Re-x Discoloration

So decided to try my hand with a re-x using naphtha on a batch of white fluffies mixed with a brownish goo. Used about 200ml naphtha heat in a boiling bath, poored into a half pint jar. Evap down a bit after disolved spice and some goo. The resulted FP was a drop of yield down to about 900mg of yellowish xtals and tiny puddle of brown goo. The yield loss was expected, but the discoloration was a bit of a surprise. Is this a result of impurities mixing with he goo? Anything to worry about? Worth a baking soday cleaning? Is that return of brown goo ok and I would assume the goo is fine for changa? This was all yields from ACRB, so the goo came as no surprise. The yellowing of what was white fluffies was, however.

It's probably ok, assuming it's not some of your basified liquid still hanging around. I'd advise against doing a heated bath for re-crystallization in the future because heating allows some of the undesirables to dissolve into the naphtha that wouldn't otherwise be soluble. You should be able to get all of the DMT to go into solution at room temperature, provided you have ~40ml of naphtha per gram of DMT, and you give it some time and spread around the goo to make sure the solvent touches every bit of material.

Good to know on the heat. Got some xtals sitting around in various other containers so maybe I will do another reX with non heated naphtha this weekend to get them all congregated together. See if I can get things back up to a gram.

How much spice was there in the first place? You don't mention anything about decanting from undissolved goo ?

Check FAQ for re-x solvent vs dmt amounts.

Doh, thought I put that in the OP. Was between 1000 and 1100mg. After disolving I poored the disolved solution into another jar, cleaned out the half pint jar, and poored the solution back in for the FP.

There is your problem. Per gram of impure dmt you only need 30ml (plus maybe a second less pure pull of 20ml) of warm naphtha. And decant away from the goo. Otherwise you arent cleaning much of anything.

Oh snap, 200ml was an inaccuracy on my part. I was a bit rushed typing the OP up. Not sure where my mind was, that. 200ml is wrong. That wouldn't even fit in a half pint...... oh man, now that I am re-reading the OP I was wrong on several occasions. The original jar was not a half pint, it is the smallest size baby food jar that can be found... What is that, like 50ml or so? Not sure how I connected that two half pint. It's what I have been using to store the spice. I used a mason jar filled up to the 50ml mark, and only poored about half that after heated into the baby food jar.

Sorry for all the inaccuracies. No excuse, but my bad timing for posing a question. Wrote the OP at the last second before walking into work. So lets start over with my deepest apologies...

Baby food collection jar had around 1100 mg of mixed white fluffy and goo. Heated 50ml naphtha in mason jar. Poored half of heated naphtha into baby jar. Heated that a bit longer to disolve contents. Poored that into a different mason jar with minimalist xtals stuck in. Disolved those into the mix. The naphtha solution had a cloudy yellowish tint. Cleaned out the baby food jar, and poored the solution into that. Blew a cold fan onto that for a bit of evap, and stuck that into freezer for FP. Will post picture in a sec of final result.

Again, sorry for all the misinformation.. I feel stupid for not taking more time in writing that. Hopefully this brings a better sense and more accurate account for assistance.

This is interesting, as after the FP there was a blob of brown goo with the yellowish tinted xtals, but after storing in fridge and looking at it now the brown goo has changed to the color of the xtals. The dense part at top of the picture was the brown goo.

(Baby food jar is 2.5oz, so about 73ml. Think it was about half full, so I must of poored close to 35ml naphtha in. Obviously not putting 200ml of anything in this. Why I connect half pint to this beats me, should of thought of half a pint of beer from the bar and known this to be the wrong size to quote.)

Any thoughts on the first picture and the brown goo turning to that denser part of the picture would be appreciated. Thanks in advance as always.
