Reagent methodology for use with paper/blotter medium

Hello every one šŸ˜ , haven't posted in a while:? .
have just been occupied by otherly  things.
recently a FOAF has heard about alot of so-called "LSD" "blotter" "doses" etc.. are going around.

in order to be more aware of what is in the blotters, FOAF has acquired some Marquis and Ehrlich reagents. She is unsure how to perform each of the tests. SWIM found this thread on BL by klinklonfoonyak

" The sulfuric acid in Marquis reagent reacts with blotter paper, the charring may make the result black which can make a false positive for LSD. You need to extract the blotter by soaking it in a tiny bit of uncolored alcohol and applying the test to that alcoholic solution.
You may not see the difference between LSD and Bromo-Dragonfly! You need Ehrlich for that. "

swim imagines that you would either submerge the piece of paper in a solution and remove it ( which she thinks would require more solution ) or B place the paper in a test tube, hold it at an angle and drop the solution down the side and through the paper (she thinks less solution would be required) but does not know if one method is preferred

so a few of it's ?'s
a. when doing reagent testing on blotter paper, (no matter what reagent is used) must the unknown substance(s) be transferred into a solution first? or is that just for marquis?

a2. if the compound on blotter needs to be transferred to a solution before reagent testing, are there specific solution mediums for each specific reagent?

b. is there a preferred/better type of alcohol or specific concentration that should be used with marquis?
b2. (in refrence to marquis and blotter) if X drops of an alcoholic solution is used to transfer the alkaloids into a solution would more marquis be needed to conduct the test effectively?
b3. would you test the solution immediately or possibly let some evaporate?

sorry if this info is all ready about the nexus somewhere, but it could not find this
and thanks to all in advance, for every~thing.
