hello.
first can i say thank you to this community.
i just thought i would share my first experience of, what i would like to call, an urban changa ceremony.
a close friend came home after his travels and brought tales of self discovery and reconnection. having heard of such i was instantly curious of being brought in to this sacred practice.
now, when i say ceremony understand we are in a city, without a shaman or smudge stick and feather, so technically it was not a ceremony in the traditional sense, but none the less was a ceremony of some sorts.
my friend, who had been doing ceremonies every 2-4 days while he was in brazil, living off the land and working the land, he has even built a house there, was my sitter and he made sure i was "back in the room" before he had his journey. he created a setting of warmth and safety, using candels, flashing christmas tree lights, pictures, carvings, an thai decorations, and the choice of music was "sou luz" by "Carioca freitas".... can i just say this is a truely amazing song to teleport you straight to the other side, and such a beatiful piece of music. also this is a song which has been used by the natives for years untill this day as a tool to take them to "the other side".
it took 3 hits for me to finish the pipe, each time i held it in as long as i could, and then it began.
i saw a loop of vibrating energy appear above me which slowly fell down like a curtain, if you think of a hopital bed curtain that can be pulled right around the bed. as this energy lowered i felt this overwelming sense of cleansing, purification, and healing of the mind body and soul, then as the energy reached the level of my lower spine (i suffer from degeneration to the spine) there was a change in the energy, part of it started to vibrate differently in the shape of a snake or serpent that weaved its way through the energy and shot straight down head first into my spine and as the head connected i felt this burst of healing.
next the floor became like an ocean moving like waves, starting behind me, going through me, and continueing in front. it was like waves in the sea.
at this point i was drawn to the the thai hanging cushion that was laying on the floor. it had a elephant on it created with beads and i was so focused on this, and the beads started raising and popping.
next the room started to dissolve in to fractuals and evaporated before my eyes and then i had teleported. now i was in a desert in a tent/teepee. i could see the flickering shadows of a fire behind me on the side of the tent/teepee and i was alone, and had forgot i was just in my friends house, as far as i was concerned i had been travelling through the desert and now it was night fall i had set up camp to rest for the journey tomorrow. or maybe not. all i know is once i had arrived at this desert all knowledge of the house and the people around me was gone.
this lasted around 1-4 minutes when i "came back in the room". it was then around another 15-20 minutes of amazing visuals and trailbacks. another friend who was with us had tubes of colour and light outlining his head which went to the top of his nose then continued in front of his face to create an eagals beak, so these tubes of colour and light was the outline of an eagals head over his head, my sitter looked like he was created from a gem stone catching the light in his face like a diamond does, and my wife although was so distinct looking was actually part of this whole energy every where, so was not seperate from this life force energy, she was part of this energy, but i could still see her so clear, she also has never looked so beautiful.
can i just add all visions where open eye hallucinations.
the overall feeling i can only describe as "being back in the womb", this is how i would imagen a baby in the womb would feel. so much love, goodness and beauty.
all in all it was the most amazing, beautiful, special thing ive experianced. words can not describe what happened to me, but ive tried to tell it the best i can.
i look forward to continueing with the ceremonies but we are in the future going to get the missing items to create a more traditional ceremony.
this is an amazing tool if used correctly can reconnect us to that we as humans have lost.
