Reddish Naphta

So I've let a few jars sit for a while with naphta inside. Im wondering about some stuff now, well let's say I've put my solvant while it was kinda hot to try to pull more spice from the sludge, is it normal that after letting it sit for a while there is some cristal shards floating on top of the sludge? So I would have to heat the jars a bit so it dissolves back in the naphta then mix it again...

The other thing is that my naphta is now kinda reddish after sitting for a while in the jar. Is it only plant material or can it be lye contam and if it is do you think I should add salt to the jars to promote separation. If yes, should I do that after shaking them a few times or before? Well thanks for the tips!

shards forming on naphtha means the naphtha was saturated and it evaporated a little bit so the dmt started precipitating right there. You can just remove it manually and later put together with the rest and/or recrystallize if desired. Or you can add some more warm naphtha to dissolve it.

As for red naphtha, check the FAQ for "brown naphtha" problem.

Thanks a lot for the advice!

Now I did a sodium carbonate wash but it separated in three stages, one clear yellow stage, one small stage which is quite white and opact and a reddish brown stage. Im just wondering what is the middle stage and if I should pull it with the yellowish one...

It all worked well. Thanks a lot. Sodium carbonate wash is a cool thing so I got some of my spice, dissolved it and performed a wash to see how it comes. I think I will try to perform an IPA wash on the result to see if it make some difference on the quality too. I don't see much information on this procedure so from what I understand I just dissolve the spice in 99% IPA and let this evaporate? Do you people think this procedure is worth the effort since I don't see much information on it.
