SWIM is doing the Vovin's tek and has a question about reducing the naphtha. He is using Terpentine as solvent and heard that he has to put this in a food dehydrator to reduce to a workable amount. Is it also fine he puts it in a pan on the stove? (induction heat, very low setting, so that the temperature of the solvent is 40-60 degrees celsius)

I assume you're talking about step 8-A? You do not have to evap as you can also freeze precipitate the DMT crystals in the freezer. Turn the freezer to it's coldest setting and shove the dish in the freezer over night. Leaving it in 24 to 48 hours will precipitate most of the crystals. After that you can decant and have it dry. The downside of completely evaporating the naphtha is that it takes really long. Freezing is quicker and let's you recycle the naphtha(or even better, pour some methanol in there to extract the yellow mystery alkaloids into honey spice before recycling it).
You idea of heating up the naphtha would probably work but I have no idea if that would evaporate part of your DMT as well(can anyone shed some light on this?)

You shouldn't be using naphtha until step 4 and 6. Did you thoroughly read the TEK and understand what is going on? Because in step 2 you make an acid solution using hydrochloric acid(HCl). This liquid converts the DMT in the rootbark into a salt that's soluble in water. And thus it'll dissolve in the water. Did you use HCl or naphtha?

I can remember one member who got the idea to do this from another member here at one point, and he ended up lucky that he only lost his eyebrows to a quick flame. Get a hotplate, or let the solvent evap on its own or use a dehydrator(somewhere where you wont inhale the fumes)..
I also dont get why you would even be using a np solvent at this stage in the extraction anyway. But again..dont try to reduce np solvents on the stove like that! It would be horribly reckless to do so, you are NOT a chemist!..clearly! I mean no offence by that just dont want to see another post in this thread later about you burning yourself, or your house down. Be careful.
BTW..this would also be a great way to have the cops knocking on your door when someone starts to wonder what the hell that smell is.
I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, but I meant reducing the dH20 + alkaloids on the stove, and the stove I have is an induction heat plate, so without an actual flame

Yes, you can cook the liquid into a workable amount by letting it simmer on low heat on your hot plate. Please make sure it doesn't reach too high temperatures as it will breakdown the DMT alkaloids, reducing potency of your end product. Around 40 ~ 45C should be sufficient, but it might take a few hours to be reduced to a workable amount. Just make sure you keep an eye on it every half hour or hour.

So no temperatures above 40-45 degrees, but what about the acid bath? When I use heat baths and occasionally reheat, I reach temperatures of 60 degrees, and when I cook it in a pan, I reach temperatures of 100 degrees. Is this also a bad thing?

I used 40 ~ 45C as a safety margin. On my extractions I heat my mimosa soup(I've only done STBs until now, will try A/B later on) to about 60 ~ 65C. Anything above 65C is above the melting point of DMT and will apparently damage the alkaloids, reducing the potency. However, I have no idea how stable the DMT-HCl form is and what temperatures it can stand. A more experienced member or chemist probably knows.
