Resistance Need Not Be Futile...

Migrated topic.

Another Leaf on the Vine
This goes some way toward explaining why it's so easy to make people do evil things, or at least not very nice ones. When we take action because we've been ordered to, we feel less in control of the outcome. We feel less responsible. The experience is so profoundly different that our brains actually process it differently.

Of course we're still left with an ethical question. Why don't more people fight their urge to follow orders, and make their own choices? The answer to that one may be beyond the realm of science—for now.

I think you got that right, Anne.

I just wonder why more people don't try swimming against the current, even just a little bit, now and then...

people forget to ask .........

who says ?
who the fawk are you anyway?
whats in it for you?
what stone is that written on?
and most of all " you paying the bill?"

bottom line , ignore everyone but benjamin franklin.
if you aint next to a portrait of benjy, i dont care.

I'm not sure swimming against the current is the most efficient use of ones energy, perhaps finding your way to the bank and digging a new tributary for you and yours might be a better solution. Rabbits can't build holes to go down in the middle of the river.
Or....be like the Beavers.
