Hey guys,

Rudolph has a question about powderizing his cactus.
I've combed the forums trying to find a step by step guide on how to properly powderize the cactus on his behalf, because Rudolph is notorious for smashing the kepboard in with his hooves.

It seems all the teks start off assuming you've already powderized the cactus, without any information on how to exactly do that. Maybe it's obvious to everyone but me?
There seems to be some conflict in opinion in regards of using heat in the beginning.
I'm confused. Does using heat to powderize destroy/not destroy the alkaloids.

Here's the situation with Rudolph. Rudolph has a foot sliced up in the freezer, and two more footlong pieces sitting around. His plan seems to be to blend all the material he has (both the frozen pieces and the pieces he's got laying around) together in a blender, to then pour it into a glass pan to allow to air dry, spreading the goo around on all the surface area to expedite evaporation. Then toss the dried substance into his handy child grinder. Is this the proper way to do it, Rudolph wonders.

Also, does it matter if he skins the cactus before he blends it all together, or is it mandatory that the skin be taken off? (Rudolph has no fingernails, so it's tough, he says.) Will it hurt the end result, in other words, if the skin is left on.

Thanks guys,
Rudolph's Extended Conscience.

the 3rd person stuff kills me, makes post hard to read!

take cacti, slice thin, sun dry (or oven set low) once bone dry use a blender to turn to powder

Sorry, lol.
I thought that's the THING.

Anyway, thanks. How long would you say it should sit in the oven?
The oven temp options only go down to 200 degrees, with another option "WM" and I'm not sure what the temperature of "WM" is.

Peace.

The cactus in the freezer is going to turn to goo when you take it out, that's inevitable. If you are using the drytek just mix your lime with the goo and make your pulls from that. If you are using a wet tek mix some water with your goo, base it, and pull from the tea.

As for powdering, generally you want to despine and skin the cactus, then allow the green flesh and if you choose, the white inner flesh around the core, to dry out completely. I personally avoid heat so as not to damage any of the more volatile compounds in the cactus but using the lowest setting on your oven should be fine. Then take the dried chips and simply powder em up in a blender or coffee grinder.

i've never de-spined or skinned a cacti
not sure why if doing an extraction?

i prefer the sun to the oven- leave it until dry
