Safely boil xylene??

Migrated topic.
I would assume you don't, but my guess is to wear eye (very important) and skin protection on any exposed areas. Remove any potential for open flames, or spark. And have an active ventilation system blowing air over the mixture and out the window; as opposed to sucking xylene fumes into the motor.

Also, active ventilation blowing positive pressure out of the room, and more importantly blowing across the xylene would reduce the potential for the fumes to settle to the floor which reduces potential for ignition or explosion.

SWIM has boiled xylene

DONT DO IT INDOORS

no ventilation is good enough for this. it will stink up a LOT. The smell is incredibly bad, toxic style.

Best to boil outside (and far) with a big electric extension and an electric hotplate. No flames nearby!! It took quite a while to start boiling for SWIM but it was outside in a cold night..

SWIM used a stainless steel pot, was no problem..

Also, even though there was no fire near, just to be sure SWIM wore gloves and glasses, if for some reason it blew up or some drops splashed (xylene boils at over 200 degrees c, you wouldnt want something like this getting into your eyes)

SWIM would not recommended. SWIM will most probably never do it again, its just so nasty toxic bad-to-the-earth horrible feeling kind of thing haha. And please, dont do it if its indoors or if you have neighbours that would suspect!

If for bufotenine, for example, can SWIY find limonene? It seems to work, and by what people said, instead of stinking like satan's own solvent, your house smells of clean oranges haha
