San Pedro archaeology

Migrated topic.
Wow cool! I love the expressions on their faces. I know that feeling.

Thanks for sharing! I REALLY want to go to Chavin one of these years here real soon.

I recently received a seedling of a cactus labeled: Trichocereus sp. BK09509.2 "San Pedro" -Chavín de Huántar, Peru. This article makes me interested in that Trichocereus variety. It can be seen here. post #1 the 8th picture.

I once was told by a tour guide at Chichen Itza (in Mexico), that the symbol of the snake symbolized fertility in the Maya culture; there was a lot of snake stonework all over the place: on top of walls, and buildings, and even carved on a wall was what was described by the guide as "7 serpants shooting out of Kukulkan".

I too have a "Chavin De Huantar" seedling. I grew it from seed and grafted it onto a pereskiopsis. It's starting to plump up nicely. Nice long dark red tipped spines. I didn't see yours in the link you provided. All I saw were Icaros.

The Trichocereus sp. BK09509.2 'San Pedro' -Chavín de Huántar, Peru seedling is the last pic in post #1.

The Icaros is the 1st pic within post #5.

I have redone the link so that post #1 is more obvious.

That San Pedro - Chavin undoubtedly has some famous ancestors. And tasty!

Hey, just found some STUNNING Chavin-inspired art by brothers David and Daniel Frank:
Chavin art for the 21st Century!

Some of us here might appreciate David's update on this well-known San Pedro icon:
