Have any of you guys heard of sapo?

The secretions from the frog phyllomedusa bicolor, in south america contains opiate peptides. Several South American tribes collect and ingest the secretions to enter altered states of consciousness. The means of ingestion involves burning the skin and applying the venom directly onto the wound. Similar to a sub Q injection. It is not a psychedelic state and appears to be initialy uncomfortable like purging effect but afterwards one is supposed to feel great. I just find it amazing how much stuff is out there that I don't know about. It is truely incredible. How many things still remain undiscovered?

Here are a few links on sapo:

The active peptides are:

Demorphin and Deltorphin

Structure of dermorphin: H-Tyr-D-Ala-Phe-Gly-Tyr-Pro-Ser-NH2

as I answered in the other thread:

yes, phyllomedusa bicolor. The indigenous shamans Ive been working with use it, in their language its called Kampo or Kambo

it induces quite some purging. my friend's face was swollen like you wouldnt believe. I havent done it yet, maybe sometime. It seems to improve the immune system incredibly, and after the difficult experience feel great and energised. but I dont know how many researches there were about it. It is not so much psychedelic as in these substances we usually talk about, but more in the line of ordeal poisons. Not to think lightly of, as people have died with it. But I think a potentially promising medicine.

to extract to poison one sort of tortures the frog, which is not so nice, but they live.

Sounds like it might be the stuff that Bruce Parry tried out with one tribe... the Matis I think. It was either in 'Tribe' or 'Amazon', probably Tribe as that was the first time he met them. He was given puncture wounds to the arm, venom smeared on the wounds, then he puked, then as soon as they took the venom off his arm he was elated at not feeling poisoned anymore.

I saw another documentary once when a botanist in search of aya was given what seemed to be the same thing, then went off hunting for armadillo. Sorry I forgot the name of the programme. It was a strange one because once he found the aya shaman through his fixers, both the shaman and the French fixer obviously couldn't stand him and both criticised him to the camera as a 'spoilt brat'.

Haha I just watched Coz42's video, it's the one I was talking about! So yes it looks like it is the Matis, watch the Bruce Parry one as they gelled with him a lot better. He also did aya in one episode in Amazon, both with and without DMT, and virola with the Yanamami(?) in another episode in Tribe.

ive seen peter administer SAPO in iquitos. all the users i saw felt distressed and very uneasy at first and purged and began to sweat. i spoke with a few after their experience said that it was enjoyable and worthwhile. sadly i was out of cash/money

peter did however give SWIM 4 tube blows of nu-nu free of charge which were described as a tobacco snuff. didnt really feel very tobacco like, actually more yopo like. does anyone know more about nu-nu?

Haha, nice you really met the guy!
It's a visionary snuff, see this great article from him:

I would say probably 5-MeO-DMT and/or bufotenine...

yeah, peter is an interesting dude to say the least.

did some research and it is actually tobacco (mapacho to be specific) and crushed and powdered inner bark of the macambo tree which contains cocoa alks to potentate the mapacho. i didnt have enough to receive a visionary dose but it did feel interesting. not really tobacco like, more a heavy feeling with slight confusion, good nonetheless. i have no tobacco tolerance so smoking usually is quite a stimulant. Smoked a hashy splif provided by another traveler in Iquitos that night and was completely ganjaed more so than usually obtainable :) even splffed so im guessing the nu-nu was still acting on my brain.

Wow was I wrong! All I got when searching was irrelevant Dutch pages because 'nu' means 'now' in dutch, a very common word.
Thanks for the info!
