I have now had many experiences that involve selective forgetting, and I’m wondering if anyone else experiences this. Here’s what I mean by “selective forgetting”:
During deep fully immersive breakthroughs, I often see objects or entities that are (as McKenna said, I think) “impossible” in this ordinary realm. While looking at them my perception is very clear – I can see every detail, and examine them as closely as I please. Yet I know that I won’t be able to remember what these things look like when I get back.
For example, I once was shown a “box” of some sort, and from it were emerging object after object of incredible complexity and beauty. I thought to myself how these objects would represent a whole new art form in consensus reality, but then I realized, “Oh yeah, I won’t be able to take any of this back!”
Other examples are of a much more mystical nature. On several occasions, I was allowed to participate in a “sacred ritual” of some sort, and it was communicated to me by the entities present that I wouldn’t be allowed to bring the memories back. Another time it was revealed to me that there are reasons why I use DMT that are beyond my everyday understanding, and these reasons were made very clear to me, but again I was told that I couldn’t bring that information back.
My memories for words always remain intact, so I try to form a few words to describe what I’m seeing or experiencing. Once I was shown a device of some sort that was used for entertainment by entities. I saw it in action, and it was remarkable and made me happily laugh. But the only word that came to mind was “cute”.
Another time I was in the presence of an entity and began communing with it. I brought back the words “non-human emotion” – I had experienced an emotion that I’ve never experienced as a human being, but of course I have no memory of how the emotion felt – just words.
Several times I’ve been shown things that relate the nature of the immaterial realm to that of consensus reality – how consensus reality “works”. The only memory of what I saw was my verbal response upon seeing it: “Should I be seeing this?”
It’s as if the memories are physical objects that are attached to me, and returning to consensus reality is like going through a sieve. My parts are small enough to fit through, but these memories are too big, and so they get left behind.
