Seperation...How to seperate without getting a single drop of Lye or solution

Migrated topic.

My pull had a few results, and i'm thinking about the seperation...

I have the solution in a mixing bowl...with 1:1 lye and MHRB; 1:15 MHRB and water, and 1:.9 MHRB and naphta.

The solution sits in the bottom, water ontop of the lye and bark...and lastly the oil is doing its thing on the top of it all...

This is where I'm the *most* concerned...

How do I seperate the goods from this solution?

There's also two (2) things of interest to pull out of this top-layer of oil...

1) An off-white, manila, "light purple" citrine-looking "milk" that looks strangely like DMT
2) A coagulated, and completely 100% invisible "gel" that's reminiscencant of dried gravy

in respect to both; How does one get either bi-product without keeping any solution in what's pulled....not a single drop!

SWIM notices that when the "gravy" lands onto a PRE-frozen plate, the "gravy" evaps out, and leaving what looks like DMT...however the water, if any is on the plate, will dissolve the DMT; or the lye/bark solution has hitchhiked along and will ruin things in the freezer.

SWIM doens't know what the hell the milk substance is...but it looks like the same "Citrine" color as SWIMS old DMT SWIM aquired from a friend years ago...

Separation is the tricky bit. It sounds like you are using the Lazyman tek.

SWIM had a hard time pouring off the naptha from the bowl and instead transfered the bowls contents to a jug that got narrow towards the top.

He gave it another good stirring and then let the jug sit in a hot water for a few hours. The narrow neck of the jug made the layer of naptha much easier to siphon off. SWIM used a turkey baster and a pipette to get as much as he could. He had to leave a little naptha in the jug though... to make sure he didn't suck any lye.

He then put the naptha in the freezer and the next morning... spice crystals clinging to the sides of his measuring cup.

SWIM has seen seperatory funnels online and he plans on buying one soon. It would make everything easier.

SWIM made a siphon straw from a heat bendable glass pipette that has a longer end outside a narrow mouthed jug, and a shorter end that just reaches above the line between the lye solution and the solvent. He uses a rubber tube that can be quickly removed from the siphon straw in order to start the suction. Just let it sit and do its thing! Works a charm. Just keep the lye always at a constant level just below the solvent.

i wasnt too keen on using a bowl.

I like using a jar much better.

To seperate the naptha i used a syringe. Now this is far from ideal. The solvents dry oiut the rubber seal very quickly which can result in it disloging from the plunger which is very annoying during an extraction.

I had to clean it out a few times, re wet it and make sure no solvent touched it. then pull very carefull as to no dislodge. this is all i have at the moment.

You can use a turkey bastor, a non drip one, ive seen many people recomend it. draw the naptha from the top carefully as not to stir up any lye solution into the naptha. I did that a few times and just poured my solvent back into the jar let it settle and cleaned out the jar im using to form crystals. I dont want any lye in my solvent.

Or you can use the same method as DXM, it take a bit of practice and a keen eye, but so do all of the others.

Pour into a zip-lock back, thumbtack to a wall of something sturdy, let settle

Then hold by one corner and cut a SMALL hole in the bottom corner, pinch it slightly to slow the flow as the naptha layer gets closer. The slower you do it, the less lye-bark-mix gets in.

You do waste a bag everytime, but it works pretty well and 30 bags for $1, I don`t mind.

Cheers
