Severe coughing recation after yogic breathing?

Migrated topic.

Hi everyone.
I made a new Changa. Normally I have just used Caapi, Mullien and garden Mint. Simple.
This time I made it more complicated, just for fun I guess. I used Caapi, Mullein and garden Mint as usual, then added tiny amounts of Passion Flower leaf, White Sage and Marshmallow leaf.

Before we tried it we did a very powerful kundalini yoga routine with lots of breath or fire type breathing. Then a long meditation.

My girlfriend smoked and all was normal. One of my best friends however had a very traumatic time with the smoke. He choked on it, it resulted in a very powerful experience where he asked me to carry him out into the rain and sit with him. I offered him support, stroked his back, held his hand and gave him lots of love. He said he felt like his throat was ripped out but recovered well, he's a full power guy. He's a smoker and has never had this problem before.

After all that intense energy I chose not to smoke that night out of respect for what happened.

Has anyone had this reaction before? Do we think it was a result of the yogic breathing?

If you try it, make sure you take small puffs or small dose. Just to make be safe... The feeling your friend described seems horrible!
Smoke can be harsh in general, that's why I only vaporize and if I want to be MAOI'd then I take sublingual caapi. Just saying that smoking stuff isn't for me...

He did have a very rough time. His body temp increased hugely, when I was stroking his back and calming him he was so hot. He was a real trooper though and kept it together. He thanked me for being there and I told him that I wasn't doing anything, I told him that all the power was coming from him, he was so strong.

Interestingly he had a bit of an intuition about that and asked me if I thought he should just try a little bit first. I told him that it was up to him. He decided to smoke a full hit. Afterwards he said (obviously) that he's learned to trust his intuition. Bless him.
In the UK we can't get the glass VG without huge delivery and customs expense as far as I know. I have experimented with a light bulb vaporiser which was horrible.
We smoke Changa in a beautiful 12inch glass pipe which so far has been just lovely.

What does sublingual mean? Oral dosage?
X Thanks.

Sounds tough... I'd definately would smoke very little of that changa if possible. Have others tried it like he did(full hit) and how were the results? I mean did you girlfriend smoke it "in full manner" and were there others who tried it?

It could be also possible that your friend took very large hit and that he caught it into his throat by a cough.

Could it be that there were some preparation step done incorrectly and that there were some impurities or something that caused harsh smoke?

Glass VG isn't that much more expensive including the tax and shipping charges.
I am european myself and paid about 120 euros for the pipe including all expenses. Definately worth it for such a beautiful and perfect piece.

Ask member hyperspace fool by PM how does he use his bulb vaporizer, because he has claimed that it works just as well as GVG.

Sublingual is under the tongue, you just put about 20mg of caapi extract, wait a little, then vaporize DMT.

in my experience many yogic breathing exercises, especially some techniques from kundalini/kriya yoga can lead to these cough attacks like you described if combined with smoking

your lungs get trained to absorb more oxygen, makes them more sensitive

had several episodes in life where i either had to stop smoking, reduce it to one cigarette a day or retain completely from practicing breathing exercises in order to stop the cough attacks

maybe he has the same problems that i had, maybe not

My girlfriend tried it and she always hits it hard, bless her. She smoked four bowls in about 30mins with no problems.

This is the direction I'm thinking. Now that I've heard someone else has had similar experiences I think I can rest on this conclusion.
I think in future we'll stick to gentle stretching and meditation before sessions.
Many thanks.

Whoa, even 4 bowls of anything combusted would be tough on my lungs... I guess she has some extra lung space from the yoga.
I still recommend considering vaporizing spice if you feel like you want to keep the lungs smoke free.

well this is a bit strange i have had a strange reaction to changa
once every week for 3 weeks straight. let me break it down

So, is it every time you smoke Changa? Or are you smoking a few times in the week and it just happens once a week?
Do yo have problems smoking anything else?
Do you know what is in the Changa? Perhaps there's an ingredient that everyone else is fine with but you have a reaction to?

Perhaps try and see what the experience is showing you? Is it highlighting some underlying health issue?
If you feel to do it, a thorough detox, then health food diet (simple food, lots of raw and lots of veg.) Drinking lots of water and spending some time relaxing. It can't hurt and can only be a good thing.

To me, It certainly sound like a communication of sorts. Your body it telling you that something is not right when you do a certain thing. We should always listen to our bodies. Too often we suppress symptoms to continue with life activities that our bodies were attempting to guide us away from.

I've had folks try my changa with no problems, then later they tried it again and got that awful lung tearing/ripping/burning feeling. One guy had even left his body and was still feeling it in the other realm... he said he would not try smoking it ever again after that. I've had this happen as well, and it seems to be partially related to how dry it is. Now I am very careful to always take test hits before a full hit. And in general I abstain from smoking changa entirely, to protect my lungs. If I'm serious about the journey I will do aya.

Do you feel like freebase is too tough or don't you have proper tools for it? Just because properly vaped FB is very smooth stuff indeed.
