Simple bufotenine extraction?

I am completely overwhelmed by the number of different approaches to how I can extract bufotenine. I am far from a chemist, but I will have no trouble following any tek. The problem is that I can't decide on which one! I would like a tek that leave me a final product as free as possible from impurities, preferably without the need to advanced lab equipment. I don't even have PH papers, although that can easily be purchased. In other words, I would like a lazy man's tek. ;)

D-limonene is too expensive here, what solvent should I then focus on? Acetone? Or are there any other commonly available solvents I can use?

Acetone and IPA seem the standard.

I haven't gotten this perfect yet and not many folk have that I know of so there is no commonly known tried and tested tek. However some get good bufo effects by toasting the seeds then grinding them to a fine powder then mixing 4 parts seeds to 1 part sodium carbonate which you moisten slightly to make into a paste then allow to dry. Once it's dried you toast it again and pull the actives out with IPA and evap.

The tek I use for an attempt at pure freebase is to follow the above until you have the dry seed/sodium carbonate mix, then washing the seeds thoroughly with acetone. Then add a solution of Fumaric acid saturated acetone until the clouds stop forming, then collecting the precipitates. Once the precips are dried you add sodium carbonate 1:1 and moisten to make a paste and dry. Pull with IPA then evap then make a mix of Acetone:Naphtha at around 1.5:6 and stir in the extract, remove the solids and evap. This last bit may need some experimentation to get the mix right for the purest product, but it's the closest I have got so far to pure freebase.

I'm using the Bufotenine IPA Extraction and Bufojam Changa Tek but substitute the IPA with 96% Alcohol (Ethanol) and the extraction seems to be working ok with it.

I'm also gonna wash half of my extract with naphta or heptane to get even more unwanted oils out as a test. According to this list Bufotenine is insoluble on both naphta and heptane so I hope the wash will take some nasties (oils) out.

Above is also pretty much the same TECH that SWIM is now using..

He now also adds the step suggested above of washing it with naptha once freebased before then pulling with IPA & he tells me he's been getting a much better solid (but still sticky) end product..

With 20g seeds freebased it took about 250ml of naptha washed through before it becomes clear... it def pulls off a lot of the unwanted oils... even after the seeds have been thoughly toasted...
 
Thank you, that tek looks great! I think I will add the naptha step, as the nasties in these seeds are really nasty... The nausea during my experience with snuffed Vilca was just too much to really enjoy the experience.

What can I obtain sodium carbonate as? And will 92 or 95% IPA also work?
 
According to the list posted by The Traveler, bufotenine is soluble in MEK @ 20 C.
 
Okay... Now I have both IPA and Acetone. What should I use, and why? Also, how many cleaning steps with naptha should I do? 2-3?
