Slow brainwaves real, not scanning artifact.

Interesting new discovery in neuroscience. Slow brain waves (taking 10 seconds or more to complete a period, that is, <0.1 Hz) previously assumed to be noise from scanning machines turn out to be real.

The new waves will be studied further. There is some hope they may shed light on mental disorders among other things. I'm guessing folks studying the effects of meditation and/or psychedelics on the brain will take a look at them soon.

Looking forward to moar papers on this :)
