Smoke/vape with MAOI?

I know Monoamine oxidase is what makes DMT so short acting, and thst when taken orally with a Monoamine oxidase inhibitor it allows the DMT to not be broken down a quickly.

My question is, can a MAOI be taken on its own, and then DMT smoked or vaped and have it last longer? What is it that makes it nessessary to take it orally with MAOI?

necessarily because without it your stomach destroys the dmt before it enters your blood and reaches your brain / spine
