So under certain conditions the human eye can see infared light!

Migrated topic.

"Using cells from the retinas of mice and people, and powerful lasers that emit pulses of infrared light, the researchers found that when laser light pulses rapidly, light-sensing cells in the retina sometimes get a double hit of infrared energy. When that happens, the eye is able to detect light that falls outside the visible spectrum."

I've always wondered if humans might be able to see (faintly) other wavelengths of light when under the influence. It might explain some of the experiences others have had (open eyed).

Very interesting indeed, thanks for posting!
Once read (in a school science book of all places) that psilocybin increases sight abilities. One experiment was setup where people were asked to read a line of text that had been cut in half, and those subjects on mushrooms were (i cant remember exactly) 80ish % more accurate. Then there is the dialated pupils, letting in more light, and the brain processing more information. Less not forget all our personal experiences of enhanced vision.

ALso, i once saw a documentary about people who CAN see in infrared (lower end of spectrum) and/or ultrviolet (Higher end) One person who saw in infrared found out by seeing remote control lights, and another person who could see ultraviolet after some eye surgery found out when he was at the supermarket and kept noticing an indigo color light coming from the register scanner, and he reported it was very painful every time it flashed was a migraine.
