hi,
swim has been working with a 1:1:10 mimosa:lye:water tek
2l of basified mimosa soup was processed 500ml at a time with 3 pulls of 50ml warm naptha. mechanically stirred for 30 mins each pull.
this 600ml of naptha was spilt (as much was reclaimed as possible by wringing out the cloth and passing everything through a cotton filter), leaving around 200ml at a guess (should have measured it). a quick wash was done in sodium bicarb and water for a minute or so, separated and evapped. the yeild was very good, no scales in the house but it looks to be couple of grams give or take.
another 2l of liquid was processed in the same way only instead of 3 small pulls, one large pull was done of 150, due to faith in the mechanical stirring insuring that all the stuff got in contact with all the naptha. 2 hours (sometimes more than 24 when swim had to go out) stirring per pull.
this 600ml liquid was washed in sodium bicarb too but swim forgot about it and left it stirring for a good few hours before separating and evaporating. the yeild from this looks to be a lot less than from the above 200ml, although cleaner. it's not difficult to imagine that swim is a bit dissatisfied with this...
the whole 4l is from the same 400g/4l batch so should in theory produce consistent yeilds.
so could some the expected spice be in the sodium bicarb and water mix? would getting it out be any different to getting it out of the mimosa soup if so?
