Strange physical sensations

Migrated topic.

Hey Nexians, first post here although I've been eagerly reading as much as I can on this site for a few months now.
So I've got a question regarding some strange physical sensations that I'm getting from a batch of changa that I recently made.
I'll go a bit further back and give a quick description of my dmt extraction process so far. So firstly I've been working with mimosa root bark and did an initial extraction using heptane that yielded fluffy white crystals that have provided some beautiful experiences so far, both smoked and turned into changa. I still had the mimosa soup sitting in my extraction flask and so decided to do a couple xylene pulls and see what I could get. Turns out there was still a load of extractable material left and after evaporating off the xylene (not a pleasant process), I ended up with quite a bit of tan waxy jungle spice. I then created a batch of changa with it.
The problem I'm having is that smoking this changa is giving me quite an unpleasant pressure feeling in my head. It's like the air pressure within my head has been turned up. I can feel it quite strongly in my sinuses as well as my teeth. It's quite a hard sensation to explain. It's not an extremely negative thing although it's by no means pleasant but what I really don't like about it is that it begins to overpower the dmt experience to the point that it's all I can focus on.
This is in complete contrast to the white crystals I extracted using heptane which don't cause this at all.
I can only come up with two reasons this is happening. Either there's some sort of contaminants in the xylene I've got (the msds states it's pure xylene and it evaporates cleanly), or its something in the mimosa. Any ideas on what's causing this or anyone else ever experienced this?
Thanks in advance. Glad to be here in this beautiful community :)

Hey V-W,

Welcome to the Nexus! :)

What ratio of Harmalas are you using for your changa? If it is 1:1 ratio than this may be what is causing your uneasiness. The harmalas add a completely different dimension to the experience that I find can be quite overpowering if you don't break through. A 1:1 changa breakthrough is pretty tough to beat though :d and I've had some of my most meaningful experiences with this.

I have moved away from this... and the next batch will be with less harmalas because my last experience was, though a lesson in itself, uneasy because of the harmala load. I speak only for myself but I'm aware that this is a fairly common consensus here.

Good luck, and welcome ;)

EDIT: Were you making changa with the white crystals as well? The yellow goo IMO is much edgier and hits you harder if you take a good hit of it -- assuming this is because of other alkaloids present.

I have had the same issues with freebase on a few occasions.
Others here have mentioned the same thing & it seems like a fairly normal occurance.

Have you tried pulling from your jungle with heptane & washing well? It may be something in the full spectrum extract that causes this feeling because I think that if it were something from the solvent you would likely taste & smell it. You should probably be salting out your DMT when using xylene anyways, the smell is bad, fumes are unhealthy, & strong smell may draw unwanted attention from neighbors.

I have only ever noticed this problem with goos or very waxy yellow crystal.

I've actually only been using low amounts of harmalas in my changa so far. I think this specific batch was only around 10% extracted caapi vine harmalas by overall weight. I definitely intend to start upping the amounts I add soon though.
I would think the specific physical effects that I'm talking about aren't due to the harmalas as I've used the same amount in a white crystal batch of changa without those effects.

So I've definitely come to the conclusion that evaporating xylene is the wrong way to go about things. I think I'm going to refine my extraction process a bit by starting with xylene pulls and then doing a mini a/b with heptane on that. I'm hoping this will increase my yields too as doing the entire extraction with heptane has given me quite low yields so far.
I'll also be pulling with heptane from the jungle I already have.
In terms of the strange physical effects, they've kind of put me off the whole jungle spice thing. I know people who are crazy about the stuff but if overpowering physical sensations are part of the mix, then I'd rather aim for a purer end product.
