Rising Star
[1] Introduction
SWIM wants to start this thread by expressing love and gratitude to all the members on this site. It has changed his life and the way he perceives the world. SWIM feels like a new person, full of positive energy, and ready to accomplish anything.
[2] Previous Failures
SWIM had two unsuccessful extractions prior to this. Both times he used amor_fati's nontoxic tek and obtained good dmt-fumarate yields, but both times he freebased, he experienced complications. When he freebased the first time, once he decanted the water, his yield decreased from 1g to virtually nothing. Just a sticky dark peanut butter mess of 30mg. He mixed in the sodium carbonate with the fumarates, and enough water to moisten it, but the sodium carbonate chunks would not dissolve, so he added more water until they were all dissolved. Once SWIM tried to evap the water with a blow dryer (very stupid), he cracked the glass it was in and all his dmt water spilled everywhere. Luckily, SWIM was not hurt and has since then invested in a hotplate (it was a very good one for $80, much cheaper than the Excaliber food dehydrators. He'll get one of those eventually though).
In his second attempt, he did exactly the same thing, but used much less water in freebasing. He used 300mg fumarates (SWIM did only one limonene pull) and the same thing happened. SWIM was very distressed at his inability to do something so simple. The tek was so easy to follow and SWIM performed it exactly, so he gave up for a month. SWIM was really desperate for success, so he purchased some harmalas to circumvent the freebasing step.
[3] Procedure
The pics below show SWIM's progress with his second limonene pull. It's absolutely nothing new, it's an exact replication of amor_fati's tek (Great thanks for all your help and contributions!), SWIM just thought pics would be cool. Sorry that they are so big, SWIM didn't know how to make them smaller.
Everything was done in the depths of nature with some Bluetech and Shpongle music to motivate SWIM SWIM did the FASW evap because he didn't have any IPA at hand, otherwise he would have tried Jorkest's tek, except he'd substitute NaOH with lime. He read about a member succeeding with that method, it works right?
This is in preparation for the second pull. The vinegar soak was performed a month ago. 50g calcium hydroxide were added a month ago to 100g bark.
SWIM thought more calcium hydroxide couldn't hurt at this point. He added an additional 25g.
Added some limonene, around 200ml, mixed thoroughly.
Decanted the limonene.
Prepared FASW.
Mixed FASW with limonene. The separating funnel is a wine bottle with 1-hole stopper and a nozzle, and a hole through the top. SWIM didn't even use a drill, just a chisel, hammer, and of course some safety goggles and gloves. Needless to say, SWIM is very proud The nasty little particles are just bark matter that leaked with the limonene. SWIM absolutely sucks at filtering it off. He filters it later though.
Waiting for the emulsion to go away.
Pouring the dmt-fumarate/excess fumaric acid/water mix into a collection vessel through a filter to catch any undissolved chunks of fumaric acid / bark matter.
Evaporating the FASW over flame. This took 15 min. SWIM read about not using too much heat, but he went ahead and did it anyway because he was excited and impatient. The only difference he found was that it was harder to scrape up than when he used a blowdryer. It was much less gooey and much more solid.
T+10min Getting closer :d Looks like the plate is growing pimples ewww
Yield from 1 pull.
[4] Experience
[1] The Beginning
SWIM had fasted ALL day. At 6PM, he took 30mg harmaline, 100mg harmine with the DMT fumarate. After his first dose didn't produce any effects after 30 minutes, he consumed a teaspoon of olive oil. Some minutes later, he took more DMT-fumarate. All he got was a pleasurable buzz, an increased introspection, and a slightly enhanced ability to "notice" things. This was comparable to his failed DMT vaping experience where he tried vaping 30mg with the machine-bubbler. He has since then reformed his smoking method, but 30mg gave him the same effects. The effects seemed to stay more or less constant, and after an hour, they were completely gone. SWIM ended up taking half of the total yield he posted above before that time. He gave the other half with harmalas to a friend. Both SWIM and his friend got no effects, other than a mild nausea, for a full hour and a half. At 7:30PM, SWIM was disheartened at his failure, and ate some soup. The soup was rich in fats, oils, contained potatoes, cabbage, and meat. This triggered moderately heavy nausea, and SWIM needed to lie down.
[2] First hallucinations
All of a sudden, SWIM noticed that the ventilation shaft and the wall around it was changing colors. He could will it to be greener, or lighter, or brighter. The light in the room began to flunctuate. SWIM felt like day and night were going by very fast, as if lighting and "atmosphere" just changed. As he stared at the ventilation shaft, he saw it elongate and shrink, clarify and blur. He looked at his carpet. "Jesus" he yelled, the carpet was moving, growing, alive. It was like a seafloor full of aquatic organisms morphing and breathing. He looked at his wallpaper, which consisted of multiple intricate flower designs, monochrome, but different shades. They started dancing, transforming. SWIM just starred and starred, he couldn't get enough. Was it really working? Hell yeah it was. SWIM wishes he could describe his wallpaper better because it was truly beautiful and magnificent. The colors in the room began to change. His wooden desk began to look "richer" and more colorful, and colors around him seemed to change in a similar manner.
[3] Almost... broke through
SWIM began to feel like he was a bubble and was being stretched, about to pop. Maybe a balloon that was being inflated and was about to burst. The experience intensified incredibly. He knew what this was. This was the beginning of the breakthrough that you guys talk about here. SWIM grew terribly frightened because he never experienced this before and he was afraid of letting go. Terrible fright and panic engulfed him and he clung to his consciousness with all his might. He knew he was about to enter a much deeper state and was not ready. He managed to suppress it, and now he wishes he had just let go and let the spice take him. SWIM began to experience very vivid hallucinations of faces on walls, as well as dark floaters in the corners of his eye. He saw insects flying around his room that weren't there, flies he thinks.
[4] Battlegrounds inside the mind
The experience began to shift to an introspective nature. SWIM looked inside his head and began to sense the processes that governed his decision making. As he thought about his life, all of his unkept promises, failures, and short-comings came to the surface, and he noticed something interesting: a process in his head that was solely concerned with self-preservation and pleasure-seeking, a selfish process, which was described to him as "Hyde" that was in battle with another process, which he can best describe as a superego, a process dominated by love, honesty, and righteous good. This "Hyde" process operates subconsciously in SWIM's mind when he's sober and derails his decisions. Is it an id in a classical sense? An ego? SWIM doesn't know. He thinks he understands Tim Leary when he said "With you ego left behind you, the brain can't go wrong." in The Psychedelic Experience.
SWIM used to experiment with amphetamines, not for the nootropic effects, but because every time he took them, they seemed to direct his decisions in a morale way. Some of SWIM's greatest bonding experiences with family and friends have been on amphetamines. SWIM never got "high" of phets, in the traditional "speedy" way, but they filled him with love and compassion, and made him the person he really wanted to be. However, every time he came down from them, he went back to being his normal self. He tried to use phets as a tool to improve himself, but after the sleepless nights, weight-loss, and one time when he nearly OD'd and started hallucinating, he decided to quit them. The superego moment on pharma reminded him of the righteous feelings he got on phets except it was gentler in nature.
[5] The message and the Entities.
SWIM spent some time with his family, and experienced "emotional intensification," similar to the effect he got on magic mushrooms. He had the greatest bonding moment with his family last evening, he cried so much he drained his tear ducts. At one point, he heard voices talking to him - little, gentle, high-pitched voices, as if made my children, and the told him "family, love, honesty prevails over all." The first thing that came to SWIM's mind was "OMG! Elves! They're real!" but they were unlike any traditional description of DMT elves, not machine-like, throbbing as Terrence McKenna described them. They did not speak in any languages SWIM knew, but he understood them perfectly, as if they communicated telepathically. He did not see them physically as hallucinations, but he felt their presence in his mind- glob-like, morphing, gooey, humanoid cute little things. SWIM was unsure if they were his mind's creation telling him what he need to hear or some higher power. SWIM has been an adamant atheist his whole life and this experience makes him wonder... The voices were gone, but SWIM remained aware of other auditory hallucinations. Most of the sounds were actually there SWIM believes, but his mind distorted and morphed them incredibly. An interested effect SWIM noticed was that he was very aware of little facts in his surroundings. He listened deeply to all the little sounds and thought about them. Most of them were very funny. SWIM listened to Rachmaninov and cried, overwhelmed by the power of his work. SWIM went on the internet and looked at pictures of people and thought about them intensely... "What circumstances surrounded this picture? What emotions does SWIM see here? What is the purpose of this picture, what is it trying to tell SWIM? What can I take from this as a whole" were some questions SWIM asked himself. As he tried to use the computer, he became confused. Something as simple as opening tabs became a prodigious task. SWIM kind of understands how his grandparents used to feel about computers: as if one needed to press a ton of buttons, and operate a complex piece of machinery to access "the google".
At times, SWIM heard an acute buzzing in his ears, similar to the buzz one gets when listening to loud music for prolonged periods of time. This was especially evident when SWIM almost "broke through" the first time, and it repeated a second time. It made SWIM uncomfortable, the fact that it was silencing all other sounds, and he shook it off.
[6] What time is it?
SWIM became confused by the concept of time. What seemed like hours were really minutes. He remembers the time between 9:30 and 9:34PM (he had a watch) to be incredibly long. He must have had a thousand thoughts go throw his head in that time period. SWIM obviously had NO perception of time, and he concluded that time was an illusion, something that man made up to make his life convenient and structured. SWIM is no philosopher by any means, but this fact was revealed to him and made SO obvious that he doesn't even doubt it now.
[7] Come down and Conclusion
At 12 midnight, the hallucinations had decreased considerably. Whereas 2 hours ago they were going crazy (SWIM loves his wallpaper now), they were much gentler now. SWIM listened to some Bluetech, Infected Mushrooms, Entheogenic, Boards of Canada, Bob Marley, and he was able to pick up the "feelings" of the song - the little things that you don't notice, but that make a great deal of sense when you do. He felt the atmosphere of the songs. Bob Marley put him in an incredibly joyous state and IM made him laugh out loud. At 1:00AM, SWIM felt that he had given his mind a workout and fell asleep. The morning after, he still felt a positive afterglow.
[8] Conclusive remarks
SWIM will most likely NEVER dose more than 100mg fumarate again. He'll be MUCH more cautious. DMT is such a beautiful and incredible thing and it must be respected. SWIM did not expect the dose to work at all, he even started a different extraction alongside, but it did SWIM still believes in the message the experience delivered to him and is motivated to fill his close ones with love and joy. He has spent hundreds of hours and dollars on this project. He first heard of DMT in November 2009, and it took him this long to get it to work but it was so worth it. One trip was enough for SWIM, he will most likely not touch DMT for a very long time, at least until he fully incorporates its lessons into his life. Lastly, SWIM wanted to once again thank everyone on this site for helping him reach this point in his life. SWIM feels incredibly reformed, and it's all thanks to you guys. He hopes this read was entertaining.
