Syrian Rue and Banisteropsis on TV

Migrated topic.

Well, there's a spirit of 4aco-met in the air as I turn on NBC TV's GRIMM last night. (if you don't know about it, it's a "dark fantasy crime drama", that really knows how to not take themselves that seriously.) So suddenly, the woman who owns the herb store starts talking about how much Syrian Rue she needs, and then she and Monroe and Nick the Grimm cop start making snarky insiderish jokes about how hard it is to say "banisteropsis".... this is on a prime time TV drama with well established characters....so WTF!?!?!? ... what does Peruvian brew have to do with this program? Or perhaps a little vine will find its way into a future episode.

who knows, perhaps there will be a Fuchsbauhuasca now....this episode was a hint of things in the writers' minds-to-come. But I found a TV show fansite that has the actual dialogue:

Monroe: Did you really order six boxes of Syrian rue?
Rosalee: I did.
Monroe: Not that I know what that is.
Rosalee: Oh. It's basically a Banisteriopsis with the same active alkaloids.
Monroe: Well, can't argue with Banisteriopsis as long as you can pronounce it.

Maybe all of Wesendom is nothing but a shared hyperspace....
