testing new heat unit

This is technicly an ongoing effort from the ....experamental.... tea kettel convection vape thread...

I finally tested a one burner .. INFRARED ..smooth glass top...electric hot plate .... and to my surprise was amazed at how fast!.. controled and even the heat ... from the clean heat output was...!

It has 5 settings ... and set at only.... setting two... the glass top heated to over 300 degrees in a little over a minute!... and kept climbing after shut off...

In the early tea kettel thread ...i was using an old fasioned electric stove with coiled elements and found the heating process was slower and UNEVEN... when trying to reach a dmt vaping temperature..

With this new [inexpensive] glass top infrared unit .. the riseing heat gets slowed down... and quickly absorbed... by the glasstop witch prevents fast wasting of hot air like the older units do...instead of wasting the heat the glass quickly aborrbs and ....stores /buildsup...heat in the glass top..

This infrared technology.... prevents heat loss and keeps heat more even and controled for faster cooking...

and i believe this unit can make ...convection vaping a breese..... one one learns what setting to use and the right heat capturing to use on top of the glass..

just as a crude test....I set a ...[half inch round ] ... metal bowl.... on top of the [5 inch round].... glass heating top... with a little spice residue still left in the screen... using a pipe stem it pulled vapor very fast ...just imagine! ... clean ...heated air... riseing straight up from the superheated glass top in less than a minute... i observed wisps of vapor when taking short pulls..

This newer infrared technology really heats fast .... producing very even and controled heat...

I can imagine.... placing a metal.... [pyramid shaped funnel on top of the glass top]... .../with a metal /or glass...vaping bowl.... connected to the top of the funnel then ....in barely a minute or less.... pulling very pure convection vapor...
With this efficiant heating unit this looks posible....will take more tests....

info below .....taken from web....

Compared to old-fashioned coil heating elements, a new infrared cooktop offers significantly faster heating, more even heat distribution, a smoother cooking surface, and is generally easier to clean, as infrared technology heats the cookware directly rather than heating the surface around it like coil elements do, which can lead to hot spots and slower cooking times; however, infrared cooktops may still require compatible cookware for optimal performance.

Key differences:
  • Heat transfer:
Infrared cooktops use radiant heat to directly heat the cookware, while coil elements heat the surface around the cookware which can lead to uneven heat distribution and slower cooking times. infrared units control all the heat upwards...

  • Surface appearance:
Infrared cooktops have a smooth, flat glass surface, making them easier to clean than the visible coils of traditional electric cooktops.

  • Responsiveness:
Infrared cooktops tend to heat up and cool down much faster than coil elements, allowing for better temperature control.

  • Potential drawbacks:
    • Cookware compatibility: Some infrared cooktops might require specific types of cookware with flat bottoms for optimal heat transfer.

    • Cost: Infrared cooktops are often more expensive than traditional coil elements.

in below pictures the inexpensive 25 dollar single burner cook top,,, infrared unit ....reached glass top temperature..... [of over 400 degrees F...in less than 2 minutes..... set on low ....number two..... setting....all clean heat...

after reaching desired temperature..shut unit off before vaping..for saftey...although the unit may have a saftey function that shuts itself off automaticly when reaching a high enough temp ... if you forget to shut it off...

Great stuff.

This Technology Connections video (which I'm fairly certain I've already linked in your Kettle thread) brings up a lot of relevant points about the operating parameters of resistive stove (cooktop) elements:
Transform..nice video.. the above temp test was with the thermomitor tip touching the glass top...
Attach files
I can already tell that the air temperature also rises very fast!.... The next test will be without the temp sensor touching anything.... maybe 1 or 2 inches abovethe glass...getting air temperature only!

This is important for making convection vapor....

Yes, you want to make a device for heating air. What ought to be considered is just how much of that is due to conductive convection from the hot ceramic, and how much can be due to the radiative heating from the IR that passes through the ceramic. Absorption intensity values for molecular nitrogen and oxygen can be looked up and they will be largely insignificant for an air layer as confined by whatever kettle or bowl device gets placed on top of the hob, if they just contain an airspace.

Of course, the simplest arrangement obviously still works; introduction of a heat exchanger might increase the degree of heat transfer, but would also add thermal mass to the energy chain, increasing heat-up time as well as complexity of construction.

When attempting to measure the temperature of the air, how do you ensure that the thermocouple is not being heated by the radiative heat from the element? I suppose it would be a matter of inserting the probe into the airflow being drawn from the heating chamber, at a point corresponding to the position of the pipe bowl.

just did a crude attempt using the old teapot vape...with the cut out bottom..and lucky! ....the edge of the bottom of the tea pot fit like a glove!/.. around the edge of the glass top!

I set the 5 choice selector ... to number higher setting three...then waited... one minute and 15 seconds..... took a pull ...without inhaling... [because im getting over a cold] .... and could tell the hot air was more than hot enough!!!!!..... [i should have tryed it at setting number 2....? as i got pure vapor hits every time ipulled on it..!...[ the top of the tea pot was atleast 4 and1/2 inches above the glass top!!.... ....

WAAAAYYYY!! BETTER results !!!...:D than using the older coil top stove....No comparison!!! like night and day difference!

this could work well?.... even if i use the tea pot with the solid bottom? heat transfers so well!

i think the difference between the new glass top infrared is the heat is so well ballenced and even on the glass top ..but with the old coil top electric stoves.... the heat is so out of ballence! not the uniform and even heat of the new infrared glass top!
also with hot spots its hard to get the right convection vape temperature...
so far in this quick test the ...botttomless tea pot... is capturing... the even heat ... very nicely!

there is something way more accurate using the glass top infrared unit!!! to be continued

Did you happen to notice whether your mini stove clicks on and off like the simmerstat as per the video, or does it perhaps have a different approach to duty cycle regulation?
Yes .... i have 1 through 5 temperature positions to choose ....in each position it will heat up untill it reaches set temp.... after it reaches set temp... it will click off.... but shortly come back on... as set temperature drops...

For dmt freebase..i dont see any reason to go past position number 2..it heats up so fast...

I find with my unit... select position 2...then just heat for 60 seconds or little longer..then shut off machine and the ....temperature will continue rise......then 10 to 15 seconds

later take hit.....with stove still shut off ... and get clouds of convection vapor....[not struggling with unstable temperature or hot spots like i did with older coil top units]...

To find the perfect temperature for the most positive experiance from the freebase...one should incorperate a ...temperature sencing device.....[thermometor ].... so you can

actually know what temperature gives best results........EVEN CONVECTION VAPOR... CAN BE UNDER HEATED .....[producing almost no experiance]...... OR OVER HEATED ...burnt!! convection must be dialed into the right temperature to get best results...

Ive found that even.... convection vapor ...! [[[[can give different experiances at different temperatures]]]]] ...if you can lock on to the right temperature .. low dose ...dmt can

turn on all the pleasure switches in your brain...like re...experiancing the best day of your life again...this is my experiance ..from a lower dose....

Ive experianced this several times in past ...when using my ...storz and bickel.....].....pleanty vape....the vape at times was so gentle on the molecule...and i was using a low dose...not shooting for hyperspace......[ the vape must have hit the perfect temperature by accident]... and by the gentle effect it had on the molecule...?

i felt like i was a teenager again .... walking through a field of flowers ... without a care in the world] and that was from a low dose ...

put into simple words ..In my experiance..... it appears that ... finding the right gentle temperature .. at lower doses... obviously !.. will not send you into hyperspace...but choosing the right temperature ..out of a pinwheel of choices..... can make for a very positive experiance!
When this positive experiance happens it actually seems the brain likes dmt!

This is simple but effective ...glass top...[single burner cook top]... convection heat system...using clean infrared heat for vaping.. air heated by infrared...[safe harmless light waves] ...like you get on a sunny day!

has bubbler to cool vapor... and trap airborn particles... in water not desired to be inhaled......vape unit stays rigid..does not droop...

electric cook top produces waaay!!~ more heat than is needed!:alien:

using stainless steel bowl to trap heated air... ..screened ..brass chamber bowl....and /copper tubbing...to keep the heat away from you and anything that could melt on stem...like my clear vinal sleeve near top of stem near mouthpeice...

Copper stem threads into brass chamber bowl...and stays rigid...

should work for ..salvia leaf...extract...pot...anything vapable...

it heats up fast! ..as soon as unit hits between 350f and 400f ... [outside metal temperature]...the vapor flows fast and thick....

will be adding some small improvments ...

its the season again....... WALKING IN THE AIR.. watch full screen
