THC-A Crystalline

I have a new found project I am very interested in pursuing. I want to make pure THC crystals like this: https://i.redditmedia.com/0aAVSFpk5....jpg?w=320&s=c916777c9d082d640e21fb6d2729a618

I found this procedure online: Preparation of crystalline THCA

Obviously I don't have access to a rotavap. Is there another way I could filter the solvent?

Would a soxhlet extractor be sufficient enough?

I would love to hear if any of you have had experience in this area and to hear your tips and tricks if you have.

There are multiple routes to THCA purification and subsequent crystallization.

One of the main issues to be aware of is to avoid heat to avoid decarboxylation of THCA into THC. For example if you use soxhlet it will require heat and you will convert THCA into THC. THC doesn't crystallize so the material will have a more oily consistency if too much THCA is converted.

So to remove solvents without heat you basically need vacuum (hence a rotovap).
 
Could you use a vacuum distiller? The solvent should boil off at room temp. Then you could use some hot solvent to get it out and recrystallize. My chemistry knowledge is rudimentary but I am working on it.
 
Another way:

usually you can only grow thca crystals if you can get really terpy shit cause then its the terpenes:butane cosolvent action that allows for the good growth and formation of the crystals. so if you extract really good flowers then you basically take it before its all purged and still liquidy and put in jar and dont seal 100% but cover allow the remainting butane to evap slowly and thca crystals should grow in the resultant "sauce" which is very high terpenes. the terpenes/excess tane is poured off you get a high terpene fraction with moderate cannabinoid the crystals left over are high cannabinoid low terpene you can then purge the crystals until all the butane is gone or even until all the terpenes are gone and you can get 95-99% thca dep on your crystalization

there are other methods, but people love that high terp sauce,

there are other ways to grow thca crystals without the butane:terpene cosolvent but thats one of the easiest methods. some people keep recrystallizing from butane but sometimes that requires seeding the formation of crystals too. have to drop a good one in to start it.

I've yet to see this stuff, but it's being sold at some local dispensaries.

Its cool and all, but bsides the science and novelty of the whole thing, I'm not a big fan of concentrates.

The expense, both for shite and the tools to store and use it, the increased tolerance, the people who act like thc is a hard drug, and to be honest I don't even really get high on thc compared to flower means that I stick with the old fashioned herb other than rare occasions. It's like spice, if rather have a full spectrum extract than white xtals.

Wierd I guess.

Yeah. I just try the crytal thing to see if I can. On the other hand...I really like bho. It's less hard on the body for me...more lightly...more pleasant than spfliffs for example.

You would need a real real good setup if you want to lower boiling point that much.

Did just check this out at my ahem, LOCAL RECREATIONAL MARIJUANA STORE THAT WE VOTED FOR, JEFF and it yes it exists and is indeed quite pretty. Like fine salt, white and sparkly. Other than for sheer novelty and or laboratory kicks and grins, without decarb for alternate administration, I'm missing the value though.

Other of course, also than be able to sprinkle 99%thc powder into your joint, and then maybe rolling that in oil and finally keif, to just...well you know, get a bunch of people really,rreeaallyy freaking high, which was the shop attendant's best guess as to what to do with it. Because we're bad,bad people,Jeff and we do stuff like that.

There are ppl who roll their dab in the pure thca before smoking.
I mean how else are you gonna overcome that tolerance :d
Also for the ppl who got real bad pain from late stage cancer that is prolly the stuff that will kill the pain the best combined with ofc mor weed.
 
I saw a video of someone who calls himself 'rosinguy'. He used a sort of inverted rosin technique to make pure THC-A: When you have a fine enough filter, apparently you can squeeze all the fats out of most forms of hash-oil, so that the only thing left is nearly pure THC-A.

Just google 'rosinguy' if you're interested.
 
If you guys want to see some nice THC-A porn then head over to Raw Garden's Instagram page. (www.instagram.com/raw_garden/) They are a CA facility that grows their own, freezes just after picking the buds, then does either a rosin press with fresh frozen material or a multiple pass CO2 extraction to get all the terpines out so they can add them back in to the THC-A crystals. They call their finished CO2 extract live resin "sauce" as it is THC-A crystals swimming in terpine sauce. It smells and tastes amazing! The Cannabis legal states in the USA, Washington, Colorado and California are doing some amazing things with Cannabis, way more advanced than Amsterdam. Live Resin and Live Rosin (extracts made from fresh just picked buds, not dried or cured) are incredible experiences in smell and taste and the highs are amazing.

Yes it's true. The dutch are too reluctant these days, to move on from semi-legal to legal, wich realy halts innovation.
