Rising Star
So this is my first time posting on the forums due to never getting upgraded, I usually just post in the chat, so some of you may know me from there. This is my introduction as well so thanks for the community guys!

I thought that this would have relevance due to Jorkest just posting his tek for the Big Leisurely Acid/Base
Recently I had reached that time of year where I needed to refill my spice jar, due to my busy life (i wish)
and just cause, I try to resort to extracting once a year. So here are my basic ingredients and procedures
followed by results. As well, feel free to ask away any questions I may have left out or whatnot.

-2 Kilos (4.4 pounds of Colombian Mimosa root bark)
-2 Gallons of White distilled vinegar to 5% acidity
-1 Glass carboy 5 gallon

-1000 grams of lye (believe me safety was used)
-Naptha for Extraction

1) Proceeded to put contents of mimosa into 5 gallon carboy.
2) After I poured in the two gallons of vinegar to which I mixed together and vigorously shook contents
letting to sit for 3 days
3) Thinking I might of used too much vinegar I decided to up the ante if you will with the lye. You cant really
overdue it on basifying your solution, just had to take proper precautions in dealing with such a large quantity of Sodium Hydroxide
(REMEMBER always wear safety gear such as goggles and gloves) Made a mixture of lye + water and added to the mimosa solution after cooling
4) I mixed and rolled around and mixed and mixed
5) In the spirit of this being the Big Leisurely Acid/Base I decided to not get limonene despit it being a superior solvent
for extracting, naphtha is just more accessible to me. ALso in the spirit of the original tek, I decidedly to not even
heat the naphtha, (possibly becoming too leisurely)
6) Pull after pull has yielded cloudy naphtha that drops around 1.25 grams per pull of possibly 120 ml of naphtha.

CONCLUSION

In hindsight now, Jorkest tried to warn me, and I should have listened, the carboy was just a big pain in the ass. Sure it is cool
cause it consolidated my pulls and containers, however its heavy as whoa, and a pain to warm bath if the naphtha gets stuck.
Despite my qualms, I had great yields and felt as if my experience was worth posting if not for the results alone. Thanks guys!
Plus feel free to move this thread if placed incorrectly. ^ ^
