the effects of closing your eyes.

When you close your eyes, your brain reacts strongly and immediately starts to generate more alpha and theta brainwaves.
I found that especially with ayahuasca and shrooms, this effect is very, very strong and noticeable.
If i close my eyes while tripping, i not only immediately start seeing the weirdest things, but at the same time i start to hear noises that accompany the visions and i'm immersed into a different world.
I can feel that i'm flying through it and it's all very, very real.

When i think of it, it is actually an extremely powerfull effect, closing your eyes on a psychedelic.

Have other people noticed the effect of closing your eyes, not only affecting the visual field but also the other senses, as well?

yes..especially with mushrooms, ayahusca and bufotenine...

Really I prefer mushrooms, ayahuasca and bufo for most occasions becasue when I smoke DMT..even with a moai the main peak doesnt last long enough to be able to get into that theata-dream like zone..with longer lasting tryptamines I can layback in the dark and get into that place..but it might take 20 minutes or so to really get going unless I have already been in the dark for a while..so thats the best time to smoke spice I think..late at night after sitting in the dark..

I like going real deep with mushrooms this way as opposed to a 5 minute DMT peak becuase it's totally different when you get into that dream-like state and do some of the work by yourself..I find thats the best way to journey..really I dont get that much out of a 5 minute DMT blast off, other than it sort of resets me..I get more empathic feeling and insight out of the level just before full breakthrough becasue I can still make sense of it.. but when I combined smoked DMT, bufo and maoi's it lasted a few hours and I got into that dream like place after the main peak wore off..

But with mushroms, ayahuasca and bufotenine(once) I can take a mid-level dose, and once it hits go lay down in my bed in the dark and end up going real deep, meeting entiies, flying around the solar system etc and still make sense of it while it's happening..I have always thought that it has something to do with endogenous hormones released at night and theta waves..but when tripping you arent going to fall asleap so you end up having amazing psychedelic breakthroughs..that is where it's at and why the shamans take ayahuasca and mushrooms at night in the dark..

Yes, I think most people who have used psycadelics have noticed this.

This is one reason that I always suggest that when people smoke DMT they close their eyes. Most of the magic happens behind closed eyelids.

This is the same for almost all psycadelics...it a different world when you close your eyes.

acolon_5..do you find it better after sitting in the dark for a bit though before you smoke spice??..thats when I have had my best breakthroughs..at night around a campfire in the dark woods a few hours after dark always blows me away visually and takes me real deep..if I just walk into a dark room inthe daytime and smoke and close my eyss it's never visually as deep unless I sit in there for a bit first..build up the melatonin levels a bit I guess

Definitely!!

If you are keeping your eyes open on DMT, you are really wasting it, in my opinion!!
If you do not get rid of as much "real world" stimulus as you can, you will not become as deeply involved in the "DMT-Trance".

If you have music on (or other noises, like people talking etc), moving lights, people touching you, or anything like that, it is very hard to get the full effect, because it will disturb you & break the trance.
It always disappoints me a bit when I read someone saying:
"We smoked DMT & watched the room change colors & shapes & my friends face turned all twisted & crazy, it was like we were in another room. The music was alive, I could see it! It was tha most intense thing...so real!!"
Those are all neat hallucinations & all...but with DMT you do not need any outside help to be absolutely immersed in another dimension!!
I don't mean that it is just making the room you are physically in, look different, you go to a completely different room a different room! Like no other room you've ever been in before... & it is alive!!
Then they start to ooze in from everywhere...they are everything...& they make more of it/them as they do what they do!!

You need to give the effects your full attention, or you'll only get the pretty colors that are only the effects beginning to form.

Get rid of all that & let the DMT provide all the stimulus...you then "breakthrough" to another world/dimension/whatever, where the "real world" is replaced entirely by new sights/sounds/feelings/smells/etc...

When you allow yourself to be totally involved with the experience, it is also much less crazy!!
The manic too-fast-to-make-any-sense craziness that scares some people, is usually caused by people not letting go, physically & mentally hanging on to all those "real world" stimulus in order to not be "taken over" by the giant experience that is happening to them.
You have to know that absolutely nothing bad is going to happen over there & you will always be coming back..usually way too soon.
Then JUST GO...completely!!

When you are no longer trying to pay attention to 2 sets of sight/sound/taste/touch/smell/feelings that are 100% different from each other, the whole experience seems to slow down a bit a become more personal & even more "real"!!!!

I guess I always thought that was the whole idea...😉

Closing your eyes and looking up is a trigger. I do this to blast off in sleep paralysis to induce out of body experiences. And in general meditation to seemingly lift my spirit higher.

Closing your eyes and looking up is a trigger.

That's what I used to do every time when smoking DMT. I would sit legs crossed and lean my head back, now that I think about it it does seem to be the most effective position for breaking through...

Now that I think about it I also often sit in that position on mushroom trips. Mushrooms generally seem to twist your body into strange positions...

My Spice voyages usually are in a dimly lit room. Complete darkness is a bit too much for me when coming back down, I find that a very low level of lighting is perfect.

Around a campfire is ok, but I have found that popping wood, wind blowing smoke into my face, and other outdoorsey noises can sometimes be a giant distraction and can rip me out of hyperspace. I prefer smoking Spice indoors. I find outdoors is the way to go for longer lasting, less intense psycadelics (mescaline, mushrooms, etc).

Right on man, I could not have put that any better

I was facinated with the open OEV's that i was getting, that whole Psychedelic soup thing, but I also noticed that it made the journey all that much more fucked/crazy/mental. I have been through a few heavy rides from opening my eyes whilst Spicing, quite uncomfortable most of the time.

Only closed eyes for me now.

I gotta get myself a sleep mask to wear! I find it impossible to keep my eyes closed. I don't consciously open them, but as the trip winds down.... my tripped out landscape fades back into my living room. I don't remember opening them but then there they are .... my couch and coffee table.

SWIM would strongly advocate also, the value of open-eye experiences outside, in nature.
Still the mind, venture outside, smoke, and be. :)
SWIM has recently just reaffirmed this kind of experience with himself, and it feels wonderful.

I agree. There are other ways to enjoy the spice. I respect anyones way of using it, appreciate all who share and will take what works for me. My way of using has changed over time. Lately, just before I lay me down to sleep, I indulge in a mixture of harmalas, calea and the secret third ingredient. While the aftertaste of calea is less than ideal, it can be ignored. This is when I do the eyes closed bit.

I do, however, truly love to see a room utterly dissected into a 2-d circus covered with fireworks. I love to see my fiance radiate streaks of pure energy or turn into a cat princess or look like the sphinx done by Escher. I love to see a poster on my wall turn into the face of God or my television fractally replicate into infinity.

With my eyes closed I sometimes feel like the great cosmic secret lay just behind these amazing multi-dimensional toys that appear in front of me and the more I will(HA!) them to stop, the more appear.

Either way, the secret ingredient is other-wordly, euphoric and some of the time, even forgiving of my oh so human nature. It always gives me what I need and quite often also gives me what I want.

To all who read this, whether your leading, following or getting out of the way, your path is your own, enjoy it.
