The Student and The Scientist - An Introduction in Verse

Rising Star
Hi. I sat down a few hours ago to compose an essay, but a few lines popped into my head describing what I'm working on and why I've been reading the forum, so I went with this (basically limerick) instead. I hope you guys like it. (I'm sticking it in a code block to preserve the structure.) :)

I tell the tale of one who sought
To feel the force of the divine
But satisfaction never found
With pills or smoke or sour wine.

So blessed he was that plastic vapor
Graced his undershpongled mind,
And when again he felt it time
More Jungle Spice he sought to try.

A Tek, a root, an acid/base
(With, as he's read, an orange taste!)
Will render what he has to have.
He pieced together extraction gear:

Vacuum, funnel, steel and glass.
He hopes to use these things amassed
To once again breathe sacred gas!
So armed with stuff and skills from class

(And thanks to those who've shared with us
The results of their own research!)

He will produce from cosmic brine
Of bark and lime and citrus rind
That which when had come his turn
This knowledge to him had affirmed:

That underneath what we perceive
No truths are there to find and keep:
A truth--a paradox, indeed--
That he was gracious to receive.

And through his work he wishes soon
To from this teacher more discern;
To with this teacher fill his lungs;
To by this teacher know himself.

(But I digress.)

So hopefully it all works out
	And Jurema he'll soon achieve:
		Now watch him do with $300*
			What could be done with $3.00!*
