im about to perform my first major extraction and was looking for some learned input

its going to be an a/b with mhrb and i was wondering

is it a good idea to boil the bark in the acidic water?

ive heard both sides of the argument including increased yield and harder filtration...

thoughts?

thanks

Do you have a buchner funnel to do a vacuum filtration?
If so, the filtering would be much less of a problem, making it more feasible to do a boil.
I'm also planning on trying it out on my next extraction.

i do have a buchner setup... i will most likely boil 3-5 pulls after heavy agitation

i got some good advice that said to use multiple filtration techniques (cotton ball in a funnel first and buchner setup once the heaviest gook is out)

i was more worried about the effect on the cleanliness of the mhrb wine if i break up too many cell walls through boiling and how that will affect washing and recrystalization

i will count that as a vote of confidence

thanks a bunch, gory dekalz
