hello there :)
i am not an expert but i don't think it's salvia divinorum, looks similar though, maybe some other slavia species..

I looked at pictures of purple sage, mainly the leaves seem different. closer to divinorum I would say.

I am sorry to inform you that the Salvia species pictured in the photo you posted is not S. divinorum.

Having grown S. divinorum for many years and having grown at least 10, if not 20 other species of Salvia over the decades, I can assure you that, unfortunately you have not found an S. divinorum plant.

It certainly IS a Salvia species of some kind, I have no doubt. And there is research going on regarding the finding of Salvinorin A (the psychedelic chemical in S. divinorum) in other species of Salvia, in fact there are threads here on the Nexus forum about it. My apologies for not providing a link, I happened upon those threads months ago by chance and do not have the time to do the searching right now. But you can search it out, they're here, somewhere amongst the millions of threads, LOL!!

Anyways, don't give up hope bodhidharma, Lady Divinorum will present herself to you when the time is right.

Best of luck!:)

P.S. Keep in mind that there are thousands of Salvia species on the planet. Being a serious plant guy, this is why it kind of bugs me that people refer to S. divinorum as "Salvia". They have no idea how many species they are actually talking about. 😉

Definitely not Salvia Divinorum. The leaves are nothing like S. Divinorum leaves.

What the heck????

Gilbran2 just appears out of nowhere when you summon him?

Man, if I would have known that, I would have summoned him a a while ago!

That was like pure magic man!

I haven't seen gilbran2 in quite a while... and then, all of a sudden, he just pops up, seemingly because someone on the thread mentions his name?

Yet another reason to love & respect the Nexus.

Wow

Thank you for the response! SWIM is familiar with the nexus for a long time but only recently decided to go deeper and open an account...
much love, respect and appreciation to the whole community!

Wow, I had no idea Salvia spp. was THAT huge!

@gibran2 - you really did appear after I summoned you hahah! 😁

On a side note - the size of that leaf is ENORMOUS! I hope my plants grow that big one day! Is this specific plant grown indoor or outdoor?
Grown indoors. I always get better results growing indoors. (Not just people eat Salvia – bugs do too!)

Oh yes, as you know I had some issues with aphids - happy to say I removed the infested rose from the balcony and now my cuttings are aphid-free :d

Also - do you use grow lights, or enough light comes through the windows of the place you grow them? I read that one needs approximately 20,000 lumens per square meter of area and 6400K temperature (bright white) so the plants can be kept into the vegetative state and grow more green matter. Does that apply to S. divinorum, or you haven't researched that far?

I get this, however the 4-5 years that I grew S. divinorum I actually had really healthy, successful plants grown in a protected carport/porch that received decent amounts of Eastern, Southern & Western sunshine (but never harsh, direct sunlight) during the day. I never had any problem with bugs of any kind or any pests for that matter...

I thought that I'd mention this for the record, just to contribute what I know about the subject to this thread. I can totally see how growing S. divinorum inside with the appropriate indoor environment could be really optimal.

Peace out everybody!😁

Friends, can someone tell me the name a salvia species that looks like divinorum, but is not? 😁
Sorry to have taken so long...
The original pic looks very close to a S. guaranitica, most likely one of its hybrids. Lovely plants, the leaves smell almost buttery and the flowers are amazing too - they make a great late-season bloom for the bees in my part of the world.
