Trying to level up in my Journey

Migrated topic.
Hey. I'm considered to be "The Witch of Nottingham Park" because I've been performing my rituals there since my teens. I'm in my well-preserved mid thirties now jogging in the same park daily. Vegetarian, non drinkin', clean livin'.

Got into mysticism as a martial arts fanatic. My father fought professionally. A handsome devil, very fit. I became rather obsessed with fighting myself. Training constantly, sparring, studying the art. One day they taught us basic meditation techniques ...

I got effects right away. Strong. Thought this was super cool. Couldn't wait to get home and try meditation again. Excited that I was, didn't realize I was awakening a long dormant ability. The first time I meditated I astral projected. I left my body.

Thought that was totally cool until it kept happening over and over, involuntarily. Realized I had opened a door that would not close again. Panic set in.

Threw myself into the study of shamanism. Felt I needed to control it. Have studied with the same group since then. Also worked in a magick shop as the intuitive reader which I was good at and enjoyed very much. Learned a lot got very far. Just...not as far as I feel I need to go. I feel like, there's MORE.

The group I've been with these 15+ years shy away from DMT and other substances as unnecessary. Okay so maybe they're not NECESSARY. But I just feel like I need to do this.

Welcome.
Are you Wiccan?
Kudos on the vegetarianism.
Could you tell me more about your astral projecting if you are willing to share. Also, did you manage to control it?
Do you have any experience with psychoactive substances? If you are interested in exploring altered consciousness, it is wiser IMO, to start with extremely low-doses to gauge if you could work with these tools. How does cannabis (toted as one of the safest mind-altering substances) affect you? This would be a good starting point.

Back in Art school I did weed and LSD. Kid stuff. Got bored with it.

Maybe , now that you are older , and you tried these 2 again, you would see them in a different light. IME they are great tools for creativity and developing awareness . It would be a waste to discount them,, surely???

Psychedelics of any kind, even the humble cannabis plant, are definitely not "kid's stuff", nor should they be used childishly and without consideration for health and well-being. Many would say that it's the most "grown up" encounter this side of the grave.

The use of powerful substances is generally never neccesary, but if you'll forgive my judgement, I've found that the typical wiccan/new-age paradigm on the subject is more just egoic fixation on doing the deed the "hard/honest/natural way", etc. What might serve you better than deferring to the prejudice of your peers is to learn about what these substances do and how you relate to this aspect of life and consciousness, and make your own choices. There are many sources of knowledge on the subject, enough that with some honest learning you ought to be able to integrate these ideas seamlessly into whatever spiritual/psychological/scientific models you prefer.

If you mainly seek to better handle the far-out energies and perceptions you have awoken, then the drugs may not help you as much. If taken with clear intention and in a ritual setting, then you likely will get answers that you ask or pray for, though interpereting and accepting these thruths might be the bigger challenge.

Your predicament is not uncommon and there are many ways to cope with and channel this energy, but you absolutely should not have issues staying grounded in reality when neccesary. If your nervous system is strong and you're not overstepping your capability, you should not have problems such as this. The tree of life is a good example of a harmony in which yiu can work coperatively withnthis energy in a balanced way. you shouldn't be sucked out of your body unless you wish it... but that doesn't mean you can't utilize this energy with your feet on the ground.

the best way I have found to do this is simple awareness meditation. like you have said, meditation can awaken latent energy and propel us into ecstacy... so while it is beneficial and beautiful, it can put us in unstable states in which we can lose control. The way around this is to remain calm, sympathetic' rational, passive and CALM. for the duration of the experience, and once you have entered and used the extatic state, just to let it go and be calm. passivity can help push these energies up into a place of understanding... just don't go wasting the energy with fantasy, speech or expectation, or things may get out of hand faster than imaginable.

You have a beautiful opportunity and it sounds like your travel along the path has been productive for you, and i hope it continues to be so. However you find a way forth, may it bring you the balance and understanding you seek.

happy trails, and don't blow a fuse! ;)

are you sure it was LSD you did , because i can hardly call it kid stufff , perhaps weed can still be mellow

LOL, no the LSD/Weed wasn't kid stuff, but at the time I was a college kid. I did my research, made sure of the risks, had an experienced group for support. I was a couple of years into astral experiences already by that time and wanted to see what effect it would have on me. I did go out into the wood and try to communicate with nature around me. It was very peaceful.

The first astral projection I had was truly amazing. It felt like all of my brain turned on at the same time and I was using all my awareness, not just some of it, like we do in every day life. That's when you can communicate with beings in other worlds, like the human brain is designed to do, if we were using it all, or rather, they can communicate with you, it's when they decide. Other times it's just run of the mill out of body experience where you wake up floating on the ceiling above your body, classic scenario. In a very short thumbnail sketch, it's mind awake/body asleep. Be asleep and wake up your mind, so you have both your conscious and subconscious aware at the same time. When you have what it called a lucid dream, know that you have become aware while your body is alseep, and at that point, you can exit your body if you choose.

*edit* What brought me here is my interest in Syrian Rue. I feel the energy of the goddess associated with that plant has called me. My plans for Syrian Rue tea - FAQ - All your basic questions and answers - Welcome to the DMT-Nexus

Hi there and welcome to the Nexus :)

I think you should read the "health and safety" page here carefully, extract your own DMT, read "health and safety" agin and then blast off.

Good luck and hope to see a experience report from you :)

Hello WitchOfNottingham,

Welcome to the Nexus. Thank you so much for posting such a fascinating Introduction Essay. I really enjoyed reading that, as well as your follow-up posts.

So, it kind of sounds like you might be a "re-entry student" so to speak. Like you have been away from psychedelics for awhile but now once again find yourself interested. . . . Is this correct? If so you are in fine company here - there are a number of us who came back to tripping after a big break and one way or another found the Nexus.

So, how did you find the Nexus? How did you first hear about DMT? You mention an interest in Syrian Rue - does that mean your DMT dosing will be oral?

Personally I find banisteriopsis caapi to have more of a goddess feel about it. Rue always struck me as a harsh teacher with male characteristics. Just my own personal impressions there.

Okay, well, please take a good look around. You can post in the Welcome and Research areas as a New Member but being logged on allows you to view the entire contents of the forums. And wow is there a lot to see. I hope you like it and choose to participate.

Again, welcome to the Nexus.
