Ubu: a vilain who ignores the power of the vegetal

Migrated topic.

Rising Star
Ubu contact with DMT has initiate two years ago from a research on the therapeutical usage of psychedelics. Soon Ubu discovered the Nexus which surprised him by the quality of the discussion and the level of the members. Silently, Ubu followed the discussions here and slowly began to understand something about DMT. More recently Ubu started doing DMT extractions that although laborious and challenging proved to be very fun and enriching. Of course Ubu throw away everything at the end.

But Ubu is not a chemist, even some kind of "DMT specialist". His education is around philosophy and psychology and actually Ubu work as a therapist for a medical center. Ubu interest in DMT and psychedelics is purely personal and in no way involve his work (btw, his patients and co-workers even know of his interest over psychedelics). But of course Ubu dream of a day when cientists will be able to do psychedelics research again without being seen as criminals and drug addicts.

Altough living in Brazil Ubu is not connected to any Brazilian religion or community. As much as he want to respect UDV, Daime and Brazilian foruns/communities, the excessive ignorance, mysticism, darkness and the supposed ego-superiority from some people from these organizations prevent him to establish and maintain a good relationship with they. For some time Ubu feel alone, accused of placing excessive emphasis on science and ignore the "power of the vegetal". Fortunately Ubu found some open minded, well-centered people discussing and doing research over DMT, particularly in the Brazilian academy (probably some are member of Nexus, I suppose).

Ubu immensely appreciate the existence of the Nexus and all the effort dedicated by each member to promote and elevate the discussion about DMT. Thank you for allow him be part of such beautiful initiative.

Welcome to the Nexus, Ubu. Sounds like you will fit in wonderfully here, good to have you. Be cool, be well.

I can relate to this somewhat. I find it difficult to have a 'productive' discussion with people who wish to explore either the scientific or the mystical facets of the experience, but not both. My tendency is to try to temper one with the other, but it can be tough to reconcile some of the things one experiences on DMT with any sort of rational thought pattern. It's too easy to argue either the all-scientific or all-mystical approaches to explaining the experience because we 'know' so little about what's actually going on. I find it far more interesting to try to find a middle ground where the two can peacefully coexist at some level. I'm a very scientifically-minded person, but I love to test my theories and understanding by delving deeply into the ineffable at times. It's quite humbling to be reminded of how little we really know about the nature and purpose of our existence.

Welcome to the Nexus Ubu, and thanks for posting!
