Using Sunflower oil for Mescaline extraction (quick test)=SUCCESS

After seeing all the new vegetable oil & similar food safe TEKS popping up I thought I'd give the following a quick go on some old chips I had...

1. 50g Dried Chips (powdered)
2. STB loads of lye
3. 250ml "Flora" sunflower oil added & stirred. ( do not shake or killer emulsions from mars )
4. Salt, vinegar 30ml. x3
5. Filter cotton wool.
6. evap on low heat till liquid almost gone, then evap using a fan.

= Success

This was just a very quick test, but so far the results look good for replacing Limonene with Flora sunflower oil, as I'm now looking at some very nice looking mescaline...

:d

Quick Update...

Here the results from yesterdays attempt.

780mg of tan impure acetates...

Just to re-iterate, the whole TEK yesterday was done in about 1-2hours(max) as quick a test only... & left overnight to evap under a fan...

Also; I added 250ml on Flora sunflower oil but only managed to recover about 150ml and this is the result of salting that only..

More experimentation is needed, but so far the results look good for sunflower oil... No more expensive limonene and everything can simply be purchased from the supermarket...

:)

Thanks for experimenting!

Now, please lets not get ahead of ourselves and claim absolute success before its really tested. There are other alkaloids in cactus. So first of all, bioassay it, if possible we can try analyzing it, but at least bioassay, and if it seems good, then maybe a side-by-side to conclude if its really better in terms of yield than other solvents.

Once again, thanks a lot for trying it, these tests are invaluable to the community! We never know until someone tries :)

But hey! Jumping to conclusions is basically what I do best ;)

Sorry, your completely right of course, what I did mean to say was that sunflower oil pulls "something" I was just a little too excited this morning as the crystals certainly looked very similar to the ones I pulled over 1+ year ago from the same batch of chips using DLimonen which did turn out to be Mescaline..

09:00 - 200mg impure extract mixed with coffee.
10:00 - ---
11:00 - def feeling something... or placebo effect taking hold a little.
11:30 - nice warm feeling, catching myself grinning for no reason...
12:00 - Slight nice dreamy feeling ans slight wobbles in vision, feels like something is about to start but never really takes hold.
9hours+ Still feel very great @ the moment feels very similar to Mescaline in the 75mg+ range with a couple of dautra seeds...

Results = inconclusive at this point... could be mescaline or could be the other alkaloid mixed with placebo..

Will either try a large dose very soon or will attempt to clean up once acetone arrives... Will update soon... More experimenting required...

Acetone will eat your acetates!

You need ice cold anhydrous MEK. And I really think all extract should be washed for dose standardization.

Yes, I'm going to perform the test once again in the next few days (when I can find the free time)...

This I'll be using HCL and will attempt to clean up using acetone to hopefully confirm the results...

The results last time from the bioassay I feel were very promising as I could still feel the effect 12 hours+ later when attempting to go to sleep

:)

Is that flora sunflower oil regular cooking oil? Gonna try this one out soon on some cactus which I used on an other extraction I did with limo. I'm very curious if the results are equally potent. Thanks for posting.

Damn, that's an impressive yeild and your crystals look very very nice. Was there any heating of the stb material/oil or was it done at room temp?

The whole extraction was performed in a 1 liter Vodka bottle & it was submerged in a hot water bath a few times & also because the whole thing was done in around 1 hour the solution was always warm & never let to go cold.

"Is that flora sunflower oil regular cooking oil?"

Yes, just simple sunflower cooking oil.... pic included...

There's a good deal of impurities in the vinegar itself that will throw numbers off every time, not to mention a variable "goo factor" of impurities from the plant. MEK would be a good idea, as stated. Though I see the plan is to convert to HCl, so acetone would be the way to go, but an IPA wash would be a good idea as well (a la 69ron's tek, obviously); since SWIM's known it to carry the vinegar based impurities through filters, it should wash them out alright.

Wow really cool, thanks for clearing that up for me. swims in the middle of reducing/filtering the liquid he collected from a long soak fumaric acid acidified 14" bridgessi extraction. He was going to go the dry route and use d-limo, but perhaps he will just koh a reduced solution and pull with an appropriate oil he can find locally.

SWIM will be sure to chime in if he does, with yields, crystal porn and such. Maybe he can even divide the liq in half and do one with dlimo and one with oil for a side by side comparison.

Quick question, has anyone tried this with fumaric acid salting, ie instead of using vinegar?

Swim really likes fumarates, and you can wash them with acetone unlike the acetates.

Thanks-

You could also convert your acetate to Hcl by adding a little undiluted 10% hcl until it has dissolved. Then re-evaporate and clean with acetone. I did this with my first acetate which was very oily. After the conversion and cleaning it was nice light tan hcl powder.

When I diluted the vinegar with water 1:3 the results were far better and the end product was like pencil shavings with the same dryness.

So is sunflower oil the only known working oil? SWIM looked for it at a local grocery store, but they only had giant bottles that were too expensive for swim.

Would any of these other oils (peanut, veggie, canola, safflower, walnut, sesame) work?

Safflower oil works too, ime.
