vendor report and question

So SWIM recently told me that they had gotten decent (not great) MHRB from the vendor secret herbals yielding on average .7% with perhaps sloppily done Marsofolds-esque teks. This was a few months ago. Now, with a new batch, it seems from 2 pounds and 3 extractions so far, they are looking more like .1-.2%. Anyone else use this vendor/experiencing this? SWIM has another batch from them on the way to see if it's just a fluke.

Do vendors often vary in quality so much?
Is it worth SWIM's while emailing and saying something to the effect of "Hey your dyes have been really weak recently"?
Since the closing of BBB, I haven't noticed any real consensus on affordable, potent MHRB for dyeing, any good ones SWIM should know about?

SH has always been spot on in my experience, all your yields sound low for them. The description of your method sounds iffy, granted it's quite vague...

Please do not send any e-mails to vendors along the lines of what you have suggested. That sounds like a bad idea all around. These are natural products that will vary in alkaloid %/ratio. The alkaloid content has no effect on dye and is really not a covert question to be asking, I personally wouldn't want to help these vendors implicate themselves to be selling anything for purposes other than what they're claiming.

Maybe try jimjam shop, people tend to be quite happy with them, if that yields low too, check your method.

The thing is I don't think SWIM changed anything method-wise between the two orders. And doesn't Marsofold say in the tek that it will yeild 2.5g from a pound? SWIM was getting that first batch but then all really low yields on second. The tek was essentially Marsofold except higher vinegar concentration and sep funnels instead of bottles so I wouldn't think any of that would affect yields. I'll let folks know if this next batch from SH turns out differently.

...and thanks for the heads up on the vendor contact! Wouldn't want to have any unintended effects there. Any other vendor suggestions from folks?

marsefold tek yield is low, I only ever got less than .5% with that tek. with a pound bark there is atleast 1% in there.

No, the site is being redesigned. I would imagine it will be up again soon... You can still order from the Ebay store.

boonefrog, 2.5g from a pound??? I've never done marsofold, if that's the yield I'm glad I've avoided it. Even with my first extractions (coincidentally, that was with pre-powdered SH bark) I never got less than 2g spice/.5 lb bark
