Washing Hexane

Migrated topic.

Hi, does anyone know how to wash Hexane.
Is it as simple as just adding water and mixing, leaving the yellow in the water part.
Also would this mean that the Hexane could be used multiple times?

I use a good quality Hexane and use it twice then discard.
At the moment I'm running a little low on solvent and its not cheap.

Many thanks

Hexane had such a low boiling point that I'd just distill it. If that's out of the question, then clean it with carbon, wash with distilled water, and dry over MgSO4.

Solvent's can be an expensive habbit, recycle what you can
