El Mescalero
Rising Star
Hi,
My quick bio: middle-aged male (I hate that term) who started using drugs at age 13 and did most of those available at the time. I did the classic psychedelics of the day -- LSD, mushrooms and did peyote once. After I finished college with a science degree, got married and started my career I stopped using drugs and, eventually, even alcohol. One day I was talking to an old friend about some of our experiences in the past and told him about the time I smoked DMT. It had magically ended up in my hands after it crawled out of a drug locker of one of the professors who had a schedule 1 DEA certificate.
Talking about it made me curious again, and knowing that it was a natural substance, I searched the Internet and found this site. I'm really impressed with the discourse here. It's far away from some of the other sites that seem so juvenile sometimes.
So, I've lurked long enough and decided to join and contribute what I can, however small that may be.
Before I finish up here I would encourage everyone to read "The Doors of Perception" by Aldous Huxley. He does a wonderful job explaing the mescaline experience and what I feel is the spiritual nature of these substances. It's probably well-known to most of the members, but if you haven't read it, it's definitely worthwhile
Thanks,
El Mescalero
