What am I doing wrong? (smoking method)

I got my hands on some DMT, and even though I know the "meth pipe method" isn't the best, it was the only one I could do. However, I can't seem to get any dmt effects with it. I'm using one of those lighter torches at about 2-3 inches from the glass pipe, making sure I'm not burning anything, I see the clear smoke, I inhale the smoke 1,2,3,4,5 times and all I get is dizziness, pressure in the head, blood pressure falls and I feel like I'm about to faint. No psychedelic effects at all. This is what the pipe looks like after several attempts:

That looks burned resiude there. But i am not experienced wait for someone more experienced with this pipe. But my guess is you burned your spice. I always read that it is not easy to use this type of pipe.

Ugh... I will never forget the taste of burned dmt. If you absolutely insist on using this pipe, I would clean it with isopropyl alcohol first to get rid of the burned residue. Also you may have better results with a regular "Bic" type lighter as opposed to torch. Personally I would recommend getting your hands on a glass pot pipe (any regular ol' spoon will do, they probably sell them where you bought the speed pipe at a similar price). Fill the bowl with a wad of copper or stainless steel scrubbie (ie brillo or chore boy). Leave a little room at the top sufficient for a nice little pile of dmt. Use a regular Bic type lighter with this setup. You will be in hyperspace in no time. Good luck and happy traveling.

PS- "got my hands on some dmt" sounds maybe like you did not extract it yourself. Pulling your own spice from plant material known to contain it is best practice. Not to mention one of the most rewarding and empowering hobbies on the planet.

Jotag: definitely ditch that pipe. I had something similar, except it was fancier and made to look less like a crack pipe. Was total junk. Burned the stuff constantly, and being new, I wasted so much by thinking I needed more because I was only getting maybe 20% vaporization and the rest was burned away. Thinking back to my very first batch, I probably wasted 1/2 gram plus because I was just shoveling it in the pipe as it didn’t seem to be working like it should. So move on from that pipe, and like tony said, even a weed pipe will do you way better.

I recently saw a youtube video where a couple demonstrates how they smoke in these pipes. The traveller sits on a couch, doing nothing but inhaling and eventually falling back. The other person handles the lighter and pipe.

I think they used a normal lighter. Their trick was leaving some distance and constantly turning the pipe a little, so burning wouldn't occur.

They didn't actually have any spice in the pipe, but it looked like it might work.

I don't have such a person however, and I don't feel like digging out my equally burnt pipe to try the technique myself. I like to infuse herbs and smoke them, usually in a pipe I made, sometimes in a bong.

Yeah I guess I probably burned most of it.. about this method with the weed pipe and the steel scrubber, do I just sprinkle the dmt on top of the scrubber?? Wouldn’t it burn the spice since the it would be in direct contact with the flame? And I actually extracted it myself, although I’m still figuring out the variables that affect the yield and purity of an MHRB extraction. Thank you for the tips guys!

Yes, cover the top of the brillo plug with your spice. I usually melt it before smoking by coming close to it with the lighter. When toking, hover the flame an inch or so above the spice, bringing it a little closer as needed. You are ideally using the heat from the flame as opposed to the flame itself. When it's close to cashed go ahead and get on the plug with the flame just to make sure you got everything. Practice a little and you will get it down in no time.

I found this image online, guess I got the idea... just tried it, and from what I see you can't let the flame touch the steel scrubber, right? I wasted a little spice and noticed that a lot of the smoke coming out was from the steel scrubber burning. I'm using one that looks just like this:

Sorry, forgot to mention - before making your plug, you want to burn the wire till it glows red, to get rid of oils or what have you from manufacture. It will turn dark, this is ok. Pull the scrubbie apart till you've got strands of wire and then cut off an appropriate sized piece, then burn it till it glows, then make your filter. Name of the game is to toke the flame towards the dmt without touching the actual flame to the stuff. The spice will vape from a combination of heat from the flame, and from the metal plug getting red hot. See you in hyperspace, happy travels!
