Still curious for you to actually give this a shot, dragonrider! I asked a few questions in the laser thread that you may not have seen. Or maybe you did and don't care, which is fine, too.
OP,
I am inexperienced with DMT so take that in consideration. But I don't necessarily believe there needs to be a specific reason for it or not. I think people just try and find a reason because it provides the illusion of safety and comfort. It's far scarier to consider that you have zero control over it whatsoever, despite "giving up control" being a central theme to these experiences (good or bad).
People find it more palatable believe, "I must've done x, thus, I received y" in order to prevent them in the future. Explanations for why they deserved such a horrifying experience just sound like a battered partner trying to downplay their toxic relationship, to be honest. "DMT shows you what you need, not what you want" is like a psychonaut's version of, "He only hits me because he loves me."
I'm definitely not saying you can't do specific things to incite a specific experience, either. Plenty of people report being told to slow down, ignoring it, and getting a terrifying result immediately. Lots of folks seem to trigger terrifying experiences through what they define as "abusing" the molecule. I'm just saying that I frequently read enough reports where none of this is the case. It seems like Russian roulette or DMT being like a box of chocolates is often the explanation.
People not receiving the same effects as before is still debated and not well understood. Pharmacologically, there is no evidence of a physical tolerance. But many report "lockout", often accompanied by the entities telling them they're no longer welcome. I've read of people being flicked out by the Jester and awaking stone sober on their couch. People have said they saw "CLOSED" signs in Hyperspace before awaking sober, too.
After I tried coming back after my terrifying experience, I'd either get nothing from the same vape hit, or the full memory of how terrifying it was. One example included every object in my room morphing into this evil, distorted version of itself within a split second. I look up and
everything is distorted and black-and-white only and I have the memory of terror from the previous experience. It definitely seemed like warnings not to come back, tbh. Or at least reminding me of what can be/is waiting for me, haha. The only subsequent time I was able to see amazing visuals in my head again was when I did the laser experiment in my signature. The entities I'd seen prior to the scary trip were there, giving me a thumbs up and waving. It was very peculiar.
Regardless, if I had to pick a reason, it'd be because I was flippantly hitting the vape without a care in the world. I didn't realize the truly awesome power of the molecule or what was on the other side. I didn't even consider I could go that far with low, short vape hits on a cart. And I'd been recommending others do it, too. So regardless if I triggered it from that or not, I took it as a serious sign that I was inappropriately telling friends these low doses were nothing but fun. I'd feel terrible if one of my friends got that experience unexpectedly, especially based on my insistence everything was harmless. So there's that, I guess.
