What did you do today in your garden?

I've seen some cool threads on other forums like this and I feel like it's a good motivation for people to grow plants. Here's a particularly big milestone for myself. I harvested homegrown Ayahuasca and Chacruna for the first time and took a lot of cuttings of both. It's my first time trying stem cuttings of Psychotria species. This one in particular is Psychotria "Nexus".

Good idea for a thread! That must be so satisfying harvesting your own aya and chacruna!

Look forward to seeing how your cuttings go. I understand Psychotria nexus is a bit better suited to cold climate?

It absolutely is. I haven't wanted to harvest any, wanting them to get bigger. Then I learned from multiple friends that Aya grows stronger when it's getting cut and Chacruna gets bushier. I got just shy of 4kg fresh from the vine, which for the age I think isn't heaps (it's 13-14 years old). I'm so keen to see where she grows in another 4 or so years.

Yep, the Nexus grew really well down on the central coast and I've heard of people growing in Melbourne and Tassie. I've got a bunch of leaf cuttings coming along too. I'll end up with a lot of cuttings come next spring/summer I reckon. I've got DW01 (Nexus hybrid), DW02, DW03 and DW08 which are all Psychotria hybrids that tolerate cooler weather. 1,2 and 8 are apparently well yielding. I'll be able to tell you just how potent the Nexus cultivar is soon, most reports say 70% of viridis but recent analysis by Herbalistics has shown 1% content which is along the lines of good viridis and other hybrids are even stronger than nexus. I think time of day and season matters (dusk/dawn and hot/dry being the indicators).

Speaking of leaf cuttings the oldest of my recent lot of leaf cuttings has just started throwing babies (~ 2 months since putting them in coir). Here's a picture of one.

Nice one on your first harvest, I bet that felt good! I don't have a picture right now but today I moved my morning glories from their seeding tray to pots. Very satisfying.

I repotted one of my cacti. The TBM C (crested monstrose Bridgesii). I thought it was roting, but thankfully it's not.
This little guy is getting bigger! I got it last year when it was about 5cm high, now its probably triple that, and It looks way more healthy too.

I'm eager to see full sun in the next few weeks, and maybe decide if it's time to cut and root some of the other cacti.

Would love to see pics of this, here or in a cactus thread!
