first pull i got goo. dark brown. gummy you kjnow. but it looks infected. i think i really contaminated this one. wtf do i do. discard? i'm willing to spend 20 dollars to fix this. swim took a pull of it, and shit was metalic looking from my point of view... i heard something scraping the jar and thought there couldnt be. theres no way. yes. there was.

A few considerations to be made here from a metallurgical perspective here.

Putting most iron/iron alloys in highly acidic and basic solutions will almost always lead to corrosion of some sort. Certain additive metals can be legitimately toxic especially for the brain. I'm not sure how stuff like zinc and other anti corrosion additive metals respond to high and low pH but at the end of the day your long term health is more important than any extraction.

Personally, I'd restart from scratch in a clean vessel. Sure it could be just fine but is it worth the gamble?

It is a big scare for me too. Personally, I think it's too risky to proceed with the 'screwed up' batch.

This provides us a beautiful experience, but we shouldn't be risking our health unnecessarily to get it.

Thanks for asking the community. There are no stupid questions when working with dangerous things or the unknown.

"A smart man learns from his mistakes, a wise man learns from others mistakes"

Posts like this allow others to learn from our own personal misfortunes.

Who knows, 10 years from now someone might find themselves in the exact same situation. Can't count how many times I've dusted off a thread from 2012-2014 looking for answers 🙃

This, in my opinion, is why the self sustainment of the Nexus (participation in donation and alternate contributions like active posting) is so important. I sincerely don't even know where I would go to find any of this information if we lost the forum for some reason. At this point I'm considering investing in a few TB to archive what I can from the Nexus for personal archiving should anything happen.
