What is the clear puddle inside naphtha after freeze precip?

Migrated topic.

Ok, so I had my first sucessful freeze precip today, so cool.

After filtering the naphtha I saw a small puddle at the bottom that wouldn't disolve. I combined the 4 jars of naphtha after freeze participation and it seemed each had this puddle. I then evaped it a little and put it back in freezer.
Is this puddle the oxide?

It was clear, looked just like naphtha but obviously didn't disolve in.

I put it on a plate when I was evaping it. Then I poured the plate into a funnel back into a jar. I saw the puddle again in the jar. I also noticed that there was liquid still on the plate. I poured a tiny bit of naphtha on it and swirled it around but it didn't disolve in.

It wasn't yellow at all.

Also, what is the best way to get the spice out of the bottom of the jar, I have them drying out right now. Is the best way to just scrape it with a spoon? I was thinking of disolving in a tiny bit of naphtha and evaporating it. Some think the point of freeze precip is to avoid evap, but I think it's for more pure.

I'd guess that it's water, from condensation in the freezer.

To get the spice out, I recommend freeze-precipitating in a shallow glass dish (pyrex pie plate or something, be sure to cover it so you don't contaminate all the food in your freezer with naphtha fumes). The spice sticks to the glass, so you can just pour off the naphtha; the crystals dry quickly (especially with a fan), and it's easy to scrape them up with a razor or whatever you have handy.
