If you filter using filter paper when dmt is dissolved in acid, will dmt remain on the filter paper as well as the impurities?

Exactly, although some of the solution will remain trapped in the filter paper, so rinsing with the principal system solvent (i.e., probably [distilled] water in this particular case) is usually desirable. Exceptions of which to be wary would include cases where the impurities display some level of solubility. Using a minimal volume of chilled solvent then becomes preferable.

Use of suction/vacuum filtration also helps to clear held up solution from the filter system.
