Whole bark or powdered? Please help.

Migrated topic.
Question. sorry to be out of place.

So for powdered MHRB on a STB tek you add more water, 1.5 - 2% more.
So 50g of mhrb + 50g lye and 15ml per. each gram of lye. That is 750ml of water. so what's additional water is needed? 1.5% for a total of how many ml?

Swim uses a quart hdpe milk jug filled about 7/8 with water.
Adds about 80g lye.
Mixes,
Adds about 100 g powdered MHRB
Mixes
Adds about 70ml naptha or xylene.
mixes,
pulls.
Adds another 70ml naptha or xylene
mixes,
pulls

Its all in the tek faqs.

JBoww, if you want a non discriminatory bark STB TEK, use NoMans with powdered bark.

Whole bark is well whole bark so your TEK won't work or with, well I can't imagine that TEK working on a whole bark.

banshee, author of TEK specifically says "PLEASE NOTE: Many folks have attempted to perform this extraction using POWDERED BARK instead of SHREDDED BARK, and have encountered problems" so I'm presuming following the TEK without the 20% extra H20 might result in trouble.

Self powdered might have some fibres in it, and with pre-powdered they have more finely grounded fibres, that's why I prefer pre-powdered. I also tried q21's tek with self powdered and it produced a low yield(could be due to low quality bark though)

Not sure what problems might be encountered...maybe the emulsion problem?
I've been using stb with pre-powdered for several years and never had a problem.
Works fast and easy with good yields.
