i am such a stoner i forget from one time to another what i did best..so once again i post a question i probably asked twice before, apologize....comparing poweder stb with whole ab, would i be correct to say there is a better yield with the latter, whole a/b?

if i remember correctly, ab whole was less messy and i was able to keep resoaking and reboiling over again whereas with the poweder it was a bloody mess and because of the color and consistency, i was not able to guage much.. i was working blind with a bucket full of what could have been shit, fucked up to some degree... the clearer consitentcy of whole i felt more in control of the process.

any comments? i feel like a knob ordering whole but my heart and gut tells me thats my best move.

(keep in mind, no ph tester, not much in way of measuring devices)

I like A/B on powdered bark with filtering both before and after reduction. I normally aim for somewhere around 200–400mL solution per 100g bark after reduction.

Although it takes a while to do all the filtering/reduction the solution is a lot easier to work with.

I just do a powdered A/B.

Between washes I pour the whole contents of the pan in a container and leave it for a few hours then syphon the clear liquid out into another container. I then wash the bark out of the first container back into the pan and repeat. No mess :)

I can see how whole bark seems more appealing to those who shy from filtering, but it takes so much more boiling.
