Progshim
Procrastination is a skill.
I joined this site several months ago, after years of occasionally visiting in search of information. I read the rules and the explanations of why the site is managed the way it is, and what the site is hoped to provide for its members. Mostly I agree with what I read, although some of it seems a little heavy handed to me. I took the questionnaire (not very seriously) and wrote a short essay on a topic important to me. I don't write very often and I get distracted easily with tanget topics, but it came out ok. I made a post or two and responded to several others, and expected to be promoted from "New member" to "Full Member" in days or at most a couple of weeks, as indicated in the new member sticky that I read. I'm 52 years old and have had a passionate relationship with psychoactive substances for nearly 40 of those years, and in that time I've learned a great deal about a large assortment of compounds. I believe the concept of "Harm Reduction" is one of the most intelligent ideas ever put forth in drug culture, and if the ultimate goal is ending the war on drugs and abolishing prohibition, then we, as users, will have to work together. We have to be mature, responsible, and educate ourselves and each other, as well as interacting with and educating the public. I'm sick of being viewed as a lesser citizen because I like to use drugs, sick of being afraid of getting "caught", sick of brutal cartels getting rich at users' expense by exploiting prohibition, and sick of hearing "another opioid overdose". I want to be a full member at DMT Nexus because I believe in it and I have something valuable to share.
