Why you should weigh your DMT dose (maybe unless you're really really seasoned)

Migrated topic.
I did an A/B once again :) First pull came out purrfect!

Here's a quick rundown of what i did:

- 3x 2h simmer of MHRB in ample water with a little bit of 5% acetic acid added, strained liquids into a big jar
- after cooling/settling, strained again
- reduced ~10l down to 1.5l, occasionally removing the tannin skin that formed on the surface
- strained, cooled/settled, strained again, filtered through cotton ball funnel, then coffee filter. Transferred to a 2l beaker
- based with NaOH solution. I added until it got creamy white, then black, and added a little bit more
- pulled with ~300ml of naphtha on a magnetic stirrer, with heating to 45°C
- freeze precipitated (24h), then reused naphtha for the next pull.

The first pull is the whitest i ever managed. Second and third still ok but clearly not as white.

I don't usually document my extractions anymore when there's nothing special about them, but this time i got a pic to make a point.

The left jar is second and third pulls combined. The right jar is the first pull.
Both jars contain almost exactly the same weight of DMT.

Great photo! This should be a meme "Why weigh your DMT? These jars contain the same weight of DMT. Any questions?"

Hehe, thanks all of you :)

Did you record a percentage yield? And did you keep the tannin precipitates (just in case)?

Yes and yes :) Currently, i recovered 0.7%.

I think i reduced too much, i'm still pulling (5th now, still some coming).
The spent bark and all the sludges are sitting in a jar, based, waiting to be pulled when i'm done with the soup.

4th and 5th pulls are back to white and fluffy btw! I hadn't cleaned the dish for 2nd and third, thought the scrape residue would help form nicer crystals. For 4th and 5th i washed the dish with IPA (that i collect in another jar of course), and there were white blobs again.

I have also noticed the tendency of white fluffy crystal to appear as a much larger pile than other textures (powdery dmt, waxes, goo or denser crystal). It is a mindf*ck to scoop out your usual sized knifetip onto the scale and it weighs only a fraction of what the same knifetip usually does.

Nice work cool jars.
