it is very difficult to filter out all of that mud! drip drip drip
it takes forever, especially with larger batches.
so here is an idea SWIM has found to work very well.
a dedicated sink with a flat bottom, one of those wash basin types, like the ones you would see in a basement. collapsable plastic ones can be found. SWIM got hers from a thrift store for 4 dollars.
it works like this.
make sure you have enough room underneath for your collection vessel and a funnel.
SWIM uses this vessel as a Defat/Decant intermediary before transferring to the Basification vessel.
The sink may or may not have a large filter type material that coveres the bottom and can be used to hold the MHRB and squeezed, but this has not been neccessary as time has gone on , it it noticably easier to just work with the plant material by hand in the wash basin.
a filter of cheese cloth is used over and in the drain, to make sure that larger chunky peices dont get through to the decant/defat vessel, and further to the base...to the sep and so on...
so you have this dedicated flat bottom sink with the plumbing ripped out and a filter in the drain... got it?
its very effective and keeps the mess to a minimum, it doesnt filter out all of the ultra fine particles, but the defat /decant vessel does.
one need only to siphon the middle layer into the base vessel and you have very very very filtered solution. no problem,
