Would you go to Mars if you knew you would never be able to come back to Earth?

beacuse once you put your foot on the ground of mars , you will do what no man before you had ever done. also , there will be limited amounts of men and woman, and Im not too bad looking myself.....soo, you know

Tripping out in nature wouldnt be the same without a forest and animals around. Plus it'd be trickier sourcing and growing all of the plants I want to grow on Mars. I'd like to check it out and all, but I dont think a Martian desert is the place I'd want to spend the rest of my life.
Having spent my whole life reading sci-fi novels that deal with this very topic, I have to admit I'm quite intrigued by the idea. But...

Boy it sure would be neat to sit up top of Olympus Mons with a big bowl of changa and watch the sun set over the red desert though. 8)

Under the assumption there is a stable colony already on Mars. Would it not be awesome to travel through space on to another planet?! I wonder what night time on Mars looks like, with the thin atmosphere you can probably see deeply into the cosmos.
Although I wouldn't want to leave Earth because its toxic and I need somewhere to go, I would hypothetically like to leave Earth under the condition that this planet is in balance, and I were traveling into the cosmos as a Gaian ambassador.
So as much as a martian fantasy is incredible Earth is the cradle and Gaia my mother, I hope that if we do make it to Mars we remember this.

No. I do not want to live on a planet where i cannot breath the atmosphere. Not only that but i believe that the alien ambience would result in severe home sickness and possible insanity. But that"s just me. I even get homesick when i look at a picture of the earth when viewed from space.

In the current state, humanity could use the surface as a battleground for atomic warfare. I'm totally in for an Atomic Warfare Championship on Mars. The team with the best mechs or bombs wins. Soccer/Nascar/Formula One just sucks.
And after we're done with bombing the shit out of each other, we could terraform it, so we have a nice cosmic outpost. Maybe Mars is good for running genetic experiments that would otherwise be dangerous on Earth. I mean, not only terraform Mars, but create new lifeforms, so Mars looks totally different from Earth. New plants, new animals and new humanoids.

To be honest, I am NOT cut from such stock.
I would prefer someone else to do the pioneering. It might be nice to go as second generation. Still getting access to interesting land, still homesteading so to speak. Do a lot of hydro or aeroponic farming. Yet, knowing that issues like air, food and water are pretty much covered.
Mars would be SO much more difficult.

A lot of assumptions here... in both the question and the answers.
1st off, there is no way too say that such a journey would have to be one way. Even if it seemed such when you left, if the colony was successful, then it is conceivable that in time the technology and ability to send people home would arise.
2nd, Mars wasn't always a freezing desert, and it is likely that humanity would engage in some kind of terraforming. Hard to imagine what Mars would be like if all those rivers and bodies of water returned.
I won't go on.
What I will say is that the attractiveness of the mission would be 100% based on who organized it, who else was going, and the basic objectives laid down. If it was a commercial venture by Monsanto or some mining concern... it would be very different than if it was an altruistic endeavor by futurist scientists. If it was organized by Disney or some Vegas casinos... or a cult of polyamorous nudist DMT enthusiasts looking for religious freedom. hehehehe
I think Elon Musk is probably not the worst guy to be initiating colonization of Mars. So, if it was his plan we were doing... I might be inclined to jump on board. Teslas for everyone!
