wwwDOTlabstuffDOTnl (legal chemical suplies) : experiences?

Migrated topic.

Halfway Januari 2013 I made an order, about 3 months further now.
Placed 2 reminder posts with a month interval, very fast response with some "I will send next week" or "it was sold out" explanation. But still nothing, I begin to get worried.

Are there experiences with this vendor in this regard?
Thank you.

He Jees,

Had exactly the same experience, after 2 months I just asked my money back which was no problem.

Keep us updated I really want to know if this is normal and if you decide to wait how long it takes.

Thanks for the input, but this smells like red flag. :(

We can only guess the motives, perhaps this is a "polite" way of discriminating types of customers?

I'll update on this later.

Sad news. I was kind of looking for a supplier of lab gear. Too bad.
Which customers would they discriminate between? Chem Companies/Certified
Chemists & Hobby-Chemists? Or perhaps International Customers & National Customers?

Blaargh.

I bought a lot of labgear on ebay, from Germany, UK, China and even the US (I'm in the BeNeLux).
Never had an issue, from glassware to hotplates, vacuum pumps and buchner filters, etc.

Their chemical list looks mighty yummy. Maybe they are more trustable sending out chemicals than glassware, I sure hope so

Mine was a mix of both chems and glass plus some other stuff.

Be careful what and who you order such things from. There are fishing companies out there set up solely to catch people placing scrupulous orders. They typically put watched, or drug making chemicals in clear sight or offer unrealistic prices on things(too low or way too high).

It is however typical when ordering a small order(anything anyone on here could likely afford) that it takes a month to 6 months to receive. Chemical companies are not interested in your 100 euros, they tend to have people ordering tens of thousands of euros of stuff from them frequently. In fact, they may never(waiting at least a year) fill your order because of it's low priority depending on how big the company is.

Yes lists really do exist of who orders what and when and where to. Use discretion. A sketchy order can lead to a door being kicked down, or an investigation, even if the package is not received. Even if you receive a package that does not mean 6-12 months to 5 years later you won't be visited about it.

Company may say its in Netherlands but might actually be in the US, or EU. Always a good idea to do a background check on these types of companies.

I find it bizarre that when you try to visit the web-site using TOR(anonymous surfing) the whole page is spammed with symbols so you cannot read it. Probably not a good sign...

Now I don't know much about ordering chemicals having never really done it outside of a professional environment. I do know that many companies will not sell chemicals to non-business owners.

Also if a company sends you something that you ordered, if its shipping violates haz-mat or similar institutions rules for such the purchaser is responsible.

I should probably talk to Trav about adding this sort of discussion to the rules. As it can draw a lot of unwanted attention to a place.

Ewwwww.
I have the title changed so it might not apear in a search.

The site is sure no static thing, very often (like once a month) the ordering function is taken out "no time due business reasons" and later put up again. So it's no static magnet, if it's a trap they put lotta work in it.

The range does not indicate that they operate for large scale clients only.

Thanks for your caution awareness. I understand your concern, though exposing potential booby traps (of several kind and nature) is also a value on it's own to have around.

Some of the chems on the site in question look highly suspect. I'm not familiar with laws in the EU with regards to precursors, but I know here in the states a number of those would land you in some very hot water and require a lot of explaining as to why you need them.

So I waited 3 months for delivery and in that time got 3 excuses on polite reminders:
- will send it next week;
- will send it next week;
- the IPA is not available, have to wait some more

I asked myself how could it have been ready to send "next week" twice if after a while the order seemed not complete?

So after 3 months I asked to cancel order and refund. Reply:
- the IPA came just in yesterday, but I will cancel order and refund
:? Frown eyebrows.

After 2 months no refund seen, send a reminder, reply:
- must have forgotten that, will do so.

After 5 days the full sum was back on account.

Always got fast email replies but the whole event gave me some uncomfortable feeling.
