xylene extraction of jungle spice after exhausting with nahptha

Migrated topic.

Help needed here, well just some reassurance really I guess.

I pulled from 120grams of MHRB with nahptha at around 40 - 50C using the boil and base v 1.2 A/B tek.

I pulled 5 times over the period of about a week and got around a 1.6% yield, which I was happy with.

The base solution is now around 2 weeeks old and I figured I would do a jungle spice pull with Xylene.

I am utterly shocked at the amount of 'stuff' the xylene is pulling out of solution from the base. I have now done 3 pulls of 50ml and each pull has been utterly saturated with something I hope is alkaloids. I can still see there is enough coming out of solution to saturate plenty more pulls yet and I've already done 3.

I have pulled into a tall thin beaker first before a tray to evap and it is clear of base, of that I'm sure. I've shone a strong flashlight at the bottom of the xylene after pulling and its clear. I also have no emulsion.

here is how clean it seperates.

that is still settling a little but its clearly not an emulsion

here is the saturated xylene after pulling

and here is my fourth pull still settling out, you can see how much is coming out of solution still and the xylene at the top is already saturated

I am just shocked at the amount of material coming out of solution into the xylene. Especially considering I have already had a 1.6% yield out of this of fluffy whites using nahptha.

Anyone familiar with jungle spice extraction -- is this a normal amount of material to pull using xylene after you have exhausted with nahptha?

Ive done a couple of xylene extractions, using xylene all the way from the first pull and never seen anything like that. The xylene remained clear each time, only getting a slight yellow colour. I salted it out with vinegar and got about 1.9% yield over 4 pulls, (one per day).

Maybe leave the xylene for a day or so and see if it clears. Seems unlikely the precipitate is dmt, but dont know what else it could be.

If it does settle, you could try decanting the clear xylene off the sediment and salt/evap that.

Hopefully some more experienced jungle spicers will chime in.

well i've done 5 pulls on it and there is loads of stuff still in the base but I'm stopping for now. It goes clear when left in the evap tray but clouds like crazy when you blow on it and there is stuff forming on the bottom of the tray. I have 250ml to evap so I'll just have to wait and see how it goes.

I thought freeze precipitation only works for naphtha/heptane etc due to dmt's poor solubility in these solvents at low temps? Xylene should completely dissolve dmt freebase with no cloudiness.

yeah you got to either salt it out or do a full evap, no freezing on xylene. It definitely clouds up when blown on, but is totally clear when left, its a different kind of clouding to nahptha though. It doesn't just go milky and see the alkaloids floating about in swirls, it just goes a more opaque colour.

Really interested, once I have it I think a TLC will be needed to see wtf I acutally have.

here's some pics in the evap tray, light isnt great in here unfortunately so its a struggle to see that well.

First pic is clear, second pick is opaque after a little agitation and blowing

also bare in mind I am doing all this at room temp, there is no heating of either base or xylene. It's getting a heptane wash after full evap then a TLC to try and get an understanding of what has been pulled out

I had this kind of things with xylen and i obtained some red stuff still with DMT in it but difficult to separate.
Even if next pulls of xylen are still cloudy, in my case, they were not very loaded so i gave up after 3 or 4.

i would dry then salt that xylene with dry fasa then wash the fumarates or use water to clean them, then base them - xylene is so damn stinky
keen to see the outcome (xylene is amazing stuff for pulls)

I would do the evapping fully outside. Xylene is not stuff to mess with.
If people are bitching about the stench you are already way past the recommended ppm in air considered safe.

Maybe I'm a bit too overcautious, but even when working with Xylene in a well ventillated barn I use a respirator when I'm working close too it ( I searched this board for people using masks with Xylene and found almost no topics mentioning it).

What you could do I would try to do another extraction and ad it to what you have left. Depending on your original process you may be able to stretch it out sorta like confusa wich I can always do two solid .9% extractions on the powdered root. But that may be because I'm gettin smaller yield per batch from it being such a muddy mix
