Greetings Nexians,

I am a long-time lurker and serotonin enthusiast. I have partaken of the spice, and seen the gifts it can offer. I am presently about halfway through the pulls of my first jug of Noman's Tek juice. Unfortunately, a strange emulsion has begun to occur, and I have some questions.

In addition to learning the ins and outs of extraction, I hope to share my experiences and get involved with what seems like a great community.

It seems I am not allowed to post in the appropriate section until approved. But my concern is that the naptha seems to take a lot longer to return to the top of the lye/bark solution than I had previously seen. I wind up waiting hours or days for it to separate, rather than just a few minutes. I sometimes have to pull some lye solution up with the naptha and separate them in a separate container, which I would like to avoid for obvious reasons. When I do this method, though, there is generally a decent amount of good stuff in the pulls. I was wondering if anyone has seen this before, or if you know what might be causing it.

I've noticed that sometimes my naptha would take several hours (6-9) before separating, and sometimes if I shook too violently that sometimes "bubbles" or like thats how i described them would form in my naptha but kind of inbetween the actual naptha layer and the basified mimosa layer.

How hard did you mix the two? Tilting back and forth for five minutes? Shaking? what method was involved?

This for me in my experiences with slow separation times has always had to do with too violently mixing the basified mimosa and naptha. I do not mean to not thoroughly mix your mimosa juice and naptha, but to do so in a tilting fashion rather than like shaking.

Have you ever checked out Kaballah? Those guys are into numerology.

There weren't that many initial bubbles, as I never shake it. I do approx. five minutes of rotation, in which I turn the jug back and forth. Each rotation makes a "gloop!" noise as the naptha pulls through.

I think my H20:lye:bark ratio might be a bit off. There appears to be some light brown powder floating on top of the lye/bark but below the naptha. This could be hostilis powder, or maybe that and some combination of lye. I tried adding more water and a little more lye, but I don't think this helped too much.

Have looked into some Kaballah. Thanks for the suggestion, I find their thoughts to be pretty awesome.

Hmm, possible for you to post a picture at all zen? I'm trying to visualize this...but don't know exactly. Would you call the emulsion like cloudy? Or fluffy? Light brown and in the naptha layer? Or is it more of the naptha just isn't rising to the top for some reason or....?
