I'm really playing with a conceptual microscope. If I draw a line on a piece of paper, the difference between it and the paper is obvious. But when we zoom in a whole bunch the distinction between the line and paper begins to blur.

Also, I cant sleep, so sorry if im not explaining myself well.

Oh! And we're playing with paradox, which @blig-blug has been picking up on

"What makes drinking gasoline bad? The emotional state of a person's determines this."
Yes, I agree and that's why I made sure to mention the "good" and "bad" issue, and didn't call it "bad". It's the emotional state but also may be goals.

However, usefulness requires a certain degree of correlation with reality, and thus information about it, albeit imperfect. Once your goals and emotions are given, there IS a difference between statements.

Is having a nembutal overdose "good" or "bad"? I don't know, do you want to kill yourself without pain? Once that question is answered, there is can be good or bad,not before. But that it's highly conductive to a peaceful death correlates well with reality independently of that.

I'm thankful. You guys are helping me with my understanding about writing. I don't suck at it, I just wanna write about things that can be hard to put into words. This is also helpful on a personal level, while there is a point in mind to all of this.

Oh the polyvalency.

"Once your goals and emotions are given"

Hmm, sounds like some predicate for opinions😉

Yes, however the effects of taking a certain dose of nembutal or drinking gasoline aren't dependent on any opinions, predicates, or statements.

By the way, it may sound that I'm speaking with very high certainty, but that's not the case. This is a question I've been grappling with for many years, and this is my current model. It's faulty for sure but it's been useful.

Effects of those things fall into what is pragmatic for us 😁

And you're good. When I bring up things like this, it's jarring in some ways, and speaking with certainty can be a natural result. Also, saying things in certain ways just ends up being part of colloquial speech.

See what happens if you dance with it rather than grapple with it.❤️

Maybe you already know about this, but if not it will interest you. Not only logic or an equivalent formal system (an algebra, a formal language... they are actually the same) can't capture reality. It can't even fully capture itself.
blig-blug
blig-blug
Gödel's First Incompleteness Theorem proved that no formal system can be both consistent and complete. That is, either it allows to prove every possible statement (including any that contradicts other) or there are statements that are true in said system but can't be proved.

And yet, we are able to survive and sometimes even thrive :)

Unable to capture reality, but able to survive and thrive... that's paradoxical!

"Unable to capture reality, but able to survive and thrive... that's paradoxical!"

Probably due to dancing instead of grappling, as you say. I think living beings at their best dance with reality. But we humans often want to capture it instead.
